Acatenango Hike #1

Today is the big day. We are going to hike the Volcan de Acatenango (3976m) which is the calm neighbor of the hyperactive Volcan de Fuego 🌋

We reached the basecamp after five hours of hiking and climbing up 1500 meters in altitude. At that time we have already seen several hikups of El Fuego and even one big explosion where we felt a strong shock wave.

After a short one hour break we continued the hike to get closer to El Fuego 🤩 it was an incredible feeling standing just 200-300. eters away from an active vulcano feeling and hearing the eruptions every 20 minutes.En savoir plus
