  • Quick stop in Tokyo

    April 17, 2023 in Japan ⋅ 🌙 16 °C

I was super happy to be invited to a friends wedding in Kyoto. Before going to Kyoto I definitely wanted to see Tokyo, as well. I was really really positively surprised... Although it's such a huge city it felt very "calm", organised and very clean. Compared to for example Hanoi in Vietnam :) I could spent the whole day exploring the city without getting burned out by it.

While in Tokyo I was mainly just wandering around the city, did a food tour and of course crossed the famous Shibuya Crossing.

  • teamLab Planets Tokyo Museum

    April 19, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Just WOW. This was one of the craziest most amazing art museums I've ever been to. The teamLab Planets is a museum where you walk through water and a garden where you become one with the flowers and a spectacular room full of light stripes and mirrors.

The whole experience was so surreal. You go barefoot and immerse your entire body in the art. The artworks also change constantly under the presence of other people in the room.

  • Self care at Hakone Lake Hotel

    April 19, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

I made a quick stop in Hakone on my way to Kyoto. I stayed in a Hotel that offers rooms where you sleep on a tatami floor and a futon mattress 🤩 which was something I always wanted to do. The minimalistic approach really resonated with me.

The hotel also has its own hot spring which is called Onsen in Japan.

  • Samurai Experience

    April 21, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Today I joined a Samurai Experience to learn more about the history of the Samurais. We also had the chance to train with a a real Samurai and see him in action which was very powerful to watch.

At the end it was our turn to practice by cutting through a tatami roll with a real sword. The roll is about the equivalent of a human shoulder and to be honest it felt so easy 😳Read more

  • Kyoto Impressions

    April 25, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

It was so nice to see friends from home again after a month being away from home already. Before and after the wedding there was a little program like visiting the botanical garden or celebrating Julius birthday while eating perfectly made pizzas :)

What also really impressed me about Japan was the food, the friendly and grateful people and how organized and chill they are.

  • House-Sitting in Pererenan

    April 28, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 31 °C

Usually my base in Bali is Uluwatu. However this time I was house-sitting a friends place while she is on vacation. I don't really like Canggu, however Pererenan is a bit away from the crazy hustle and bustle of Canggu but stil has all the good stuff like coffee and co-working places. So why not :)

What makes this place so special for me, is that it reminds me so much of my first flat in Munich when I was moving there to study. Of course without the pool and sea view :)

  • Diving with Whale Sharks

    June 13, 2023, Flores Sea ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Diving with whale sharks has been a dream for me for many years. Today was the day it finally happened. I booked a four day boat trip from Lombok to Komodo Island. After sailing through the whole night we spotted the shark early in the morning.

Seeing the gigantic whale shark I was just blown away how majestically the shark moved through the water. Although it's size there was absolutely no fear just huge respect and awe.
