    Rough start in Ubud, Bali

    October 10, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ❄️ 28 °C

Three and a half years ago I was on Bali as well. Now I'm back :-) However this time with lots of rain in Ubud and on top of that I'm feeling sick and very weak. So the first two weeks I was mainly sleeping and resting. That's also the reason why it took me a while to start getting up and running again with my blog.

I'm super glad that Tim joined me right from the start while he was on vaction for four weeks. Thanks Tim!

  • Gili Trawangan - Escape the rain

    October 20, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

What do you do if it's constantly raining? You move :) That why Tim and I decided to meet each other again on Gili Trawangan. After a 2 hours speed boat ride you basically arrive in paradise. Sun, white sand beach, no loud scooter or traffic noise just horses and bicyles and smiling people :-)

The island is usually a party island but during this time it was very relaxed and we had a great time watching the sunset, snorkling with turtles right at the beach, cycling around or just enjoy the food.

  • Gili Snorkling at Bask Nest

    October 21, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

After we arrived on the island we went to the so called turtle beach without lots of expectations to see turtels. We saw five right at the beach 🤩 on that day at every single time after we saw at least three.

I also booked a snorkling trip to the Bask Nest which are underwater sculptures of people who are hugging each other in a circle.

  • Detox & Biohacking at The Istana

    November 20, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

After not getting really back to my normal health something needed to happen. So I decided to book a 18 day "Detox, Biohacking, Yoga and SPA"-Package :-D.

This place is just absolutely incredible and combines everything I was looking for. Doing Yoga twice a day. Enyoing one of the three Biohacking treatments like Cryotherapy which is staying 3 minutes in a giant freezer at -110 degree celsius.

Or getting locked up in a pressure thank that increases the pressure to three times the normal outside pressure which helps fighting bacteria and releasing stem cells and growth hormones.

Or just floating in a sensory deprevation tank in magnesium salt water with no light or sound coming in.

The Istana is also a No Phone, No Drugs, No Alcohol, No Smoke place attracking a certain type of people which I really enjoyed connecting with.

  • Typical week in Uluwatu, Bali

    December 9, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Today I want to share how a typical week looks like. Usally I work Monday-Friday in a coworking space or a nearby coffee. It's really nice to just sit in a coffee place and start working and there is a almost 100% chance you find other digital nomad fellows.

On the weekend I usally check out one of the beaches around Uluwatu. Go to a movie night or a beach club or if I feel fancy I join an intense breathwork session :-)

  • Christmas & NYE on Gili T & Air

    December 31, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

Last year I celebrated Christmas in a remote jungle next to Maya pyramids with close friends. This year I got a surprise from my friend Marcella. We planned on going to the Gilis just by ourselfs. However two days before leaving she mentioned to me that there will also be two families with little kids and another friend of her joining. By then I couldn't even imagine what gift this is going to be.

It was such a wonderful time to spend christmas and NYE with the family and especially to have kids around again to play with :-)

Although it was hard to get into the christmas mood the various christmas trees helped a little bit :-D

    January 14, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

I started the new year with a meditation and yoga nidra training at my favourite place in Uluwatu. Together with 15 other wonderful people we went on a journey to learn more about meditation. Although it was pretty intense meditating and learning from sunrise to sunset it was an amazing experience. At the end of the training I'm no even deeper into my meditation practice I also got to know a lot of new beautiful like minded people.

  • Raja Ampat Free Diving Trip #1

    February 16, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

This is the start of an amazing 11 day free diving trip to one of the best diving places in the world: Raja Ampat.

In this region the coral reefs are still intact and the diversity of sea life is just mind blowing. Which I witnessed as soon as I jumped into the water right from the jetty of our first accommodation located on the Kri island.Read more

  • Raja Ampat Free Diving Trip #3

    February 20, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Today we woke up very early to drive to one of the most famous places in the region called: Piaynemo. It's a very unique line of karst rocks lifting up from the ocean. We also made a stop at Rufas Island to go for some diving. This island was pretty cool as it has a giant ocean pool inside and we dove around the island and discovered sharks, turtles and caves.Read more

  • Raja Ampat Free Diving Trip #5

    February 24, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

What an amazing time with wonderful people. One of the highlights on the last days was swimming and playing in the ocean at night with illuminating plankton. This was an out of this world experience and I felt like I was in an Avatar movie. Right when I was inside the water and I saw all those small little things start to illuminate and my inner child came to live and I was laughing and playing and kicking my legs and arms in the water to make the plankton illuminate :-DRead more

  • Ridiculous Ba Na Hills

    March 1, 2023 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

The only reason I booked a tour to Ba na Hills was to see the Golden Bridge. First bummer was that it was completely foggy. Second bummer was that this place is like a huge tourist attraction with a full blown theme park and thousands of attractions and has nothing to do with Vietnam anymore :D and I felt like being in the US.Read more

  • Handicraft Village Tour

    March 4, 2023 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

I always asked myself how incense sticks are made. Now I know it :)

On the handicraft village tour I experienced first hand how to make incense sticks, the famous Vietnamese hats, Ratan products and much more. I was really surprised how much handcraft power is still needed to produce the products.

During this tour I also got to know a completely new vibe of people compared to the cities I've been to so far. They are all very friendly and open hearted :)
