      Milton (add pics)

      January 15, 2020 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

We went to a park by a lake and there was a slide just randomly in the middle of the lake. We all (other than bianca) went on this cool thing that's kind of like a 4 way hanging seesaw. Next we went to milton which is where dad grew up. We drove past his old green house and went on the flying fox at another park.Read more

      Nugget Point to Dunedin

      December 8, 2019 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Check out time at most of the campground‘s 10am, which we in 99,9% never manage and never has been an issue. Today was the first time the campground host knocked at the door at 10.05 🙈 This kind reminder lead us to a speedy getting ready 😂

So, first stop of the day: Nugget Point. Quite impressive. Thinking of the people 130 years ago, when they came to that area of New Zealand on a stormy day. Must have been quite a trip.

A bit later we finally managed to arrive in Dunedin. We urgently needed to dump and fill up fuel. Just at that moment the dark rain cloud with the heavy rainfall, which we only escaped a bit earlier, caught up again and Thomas ended up a bit wet, while dumping 😬

That rain wasn’t too inviting for a sightseeing tour through Dunedin and we went shopping instead and draw a plan for later the day and tomorrow.

Also a big bonus, if you come to a bigger town in NZ: there‘s plenty of Asian food and they‘re always good value for money 😁 And what‘s more inviting on a rainy day than a hot bowl of Vietnamese Pho 🍲 (noodle soup)? 🤤

      Road to Nugget Point

      January 9, 2020 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

After a short break at the carpark from Tunnel Beach, I went towards Nugget Point. It got more and more cloudy on the way, but the sun was coming through here and there. I now I am driving towards the bad weather, but that rain will hit the whole south of New Zealand so it doesn't really matter where I go now. My plan is to use the fair weather to travel as far as possible until the rain hit me at some point this weekend.

I stopped a few times during the way at some lookouts or beaches. It's really flat here compare to all the hills in and around Dunedin! Much nicer to drive for me. I also stopped in Balclutha for a fast shopping at the New World supermarket and I decided to fuel up here to be sure I will make it to Invercargill as I will not pass so many bigger towns the next 2-3 days anymore 😊 until I arrive in Invercargill.
