    I’ve pulled up tonight at the Kyle of Tongue, ready to rest before crossing the famous causeway tomorrow. From this side, the view is already spectacular: the waters of the Kyle stretching wide, with the peaks of Ben Loyal rising proudly in the distance.

    The village of Tongue waits just across the water, with the Tongue Hotel and the Ben Loyal Hotel promising a warm Highland welcome, a pint, and maybe a story or two. But for now, it’s just me, Vanilla, and the evening light reflecting across the loch.

    It feels like the calm before another chapter of the NC500 – parked up with the Highlands wrapped around me. Tomorrow, the road carries on across the water, but tonight, the Kyle is my front garden.
