Pulled into the car park thinking I’d just have a quick wander and take a few photos. Two hours later I returned to discover the bill was €18. Proper Venetian stealth attack on the wallet. Still… worth every cent.
The weather was incredible for photography. Heavy rain at first, with people diving under umbrellas and the canals turning dark and moody, then suddenly the sunshine broke through and the whole city lit up like a cinema set. Wet cobbles reflecting the old buildings, glowing water, dramatic skies… absolutely perfect conditions for photos.
Venice is one of those places where you can walk ten metres and see something worth photographing again. Tiny bridges, narrow alleyways, boats squeezing through canals, old buildings with hundreds of years of history dripping off them.
I probably spent half the time just standing there grinning like an idiot with the camera in my hand thinking, “This is unbelievable.”
Expensive parking for two hours? Yes.
Memories and photos that’ll last forever? Also yes. ☔🌤️📷🇮🇹Read more
