    Vasa Museum

    June 29, 2022 in Sweden ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

This is a fantastic museum. The Vasa ship sunk in the harbor in the 1600s, just a tiny ways into its maiden voyage. It sat on the floor of the harbor for 330 years, until they raised it. It's the best preserved ship of its time due to the brackish water.

The pictures don't do it justice. It is huge and haunting. They recovered the skeletons of 15 of the 13 people who died, including one teen that they think was part of a group who decided to sneak on for a joy ride on the maiden voyage. I chose not to take pictures of the remains.
