    Embarkation at Cape Liberty

    February 8, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 32 °F

Ready to board the Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas after staying in Bayonne, NJ in a cute little row house for the night.

The taxi ride here was nuts. NUTS. The worst ride of my life and I've taken taxis in Naples. I could barely walk afterwards I was so nauseated. Willow would have died. We flew in to JFK because it was direct but I would figure out a different transportation option in the future. Fortunately, we fly out of Newark.

We paid for The Key which got us a host of benefits on the ship. From the time we got to the port (with a wonderful taxi driver this time!) we were on the ship within 20 min or less and at a special lunch.

Beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline today with a snow storm about to arrive just after we leave. Looking forward to warmer climes!

  • Sushi Making Class

    February 9, 2025, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌬 72 °F

Check out my mad sushi making skills! I'm so proud of myself! This class was great and they let me invite Sean in to help me eat it all after the instruction was done.

I wasn't sure how this class would go but it was quite helpful! There was a boy probably Eowyn's age who was so incredibly excited - it was adorable.Read more

  • Wonderland Restaurant

    February 9, 2025, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

So this restaurant is phenomenally creative and Willow is so jealous. It's all Alice themed. I was in the rabbit hole side of the table so I was very small.

Much of the food was delicious and some was...just unique. Can't say I'd enjoy the tomato water again but the bird's nest and the ribs on an upside down plate were magical.

The Smoke Rings is my all time favorite whiskey drink. Maple and smoke...yuummm

  • More Everglades

    February 11, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Look at the colors at play here with the saw grass, the vibrant green lily pads (spatterdocks), the water, and the brilliant blue sky! Isn't God's creation grand?

It's only 2-3 feet deep in many of these places. The man made canals are about 20 feet deep for bigger boats.

Despite the noise of the fan boats, it was so still, warm, and wild.

  • Gator Show

    February 11, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

These are the guys from Gator Boys. Very casual around the gators lol

    Also... alligators aren't green. They're black. #themoreyouknow

  • Nassau Food Tour

    February 12, 2025 on the Bahamas ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

What a lovely tour. Our guide, Lisa, was one of the best tour guides we've had. Great food, beautiful town, and wonderful conversation.

It was interesting to hear her stories of getting to go to a dinner at the Governor's house for good grade when she was in high school. There used to be a statue of Columbus out front, a drunk guy took it out with a sledgehammer during the pandemic.Read more

  • The North Star

    February 12, 2025 on the Bahamas ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

This is a neat ship activity. This gondola goes up to 300ft above sea level and then slowly circuits out over the water on both sides. The sunset views were gorgeous!

  • Coco Cay

    February 13, 2025 on the Bahamas ⋅ 🌬 77 °F

The marketing is "Perfect Day at Coco Cay", Royal Caribbean's private island. It lived up to the hype!

I love that the food on the island is included, as are chairs and umbrellas.

  • Chef's Table

    February 13, 2025, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

We did the Chef's Table, a 6 course meal and wine pairing made from local ingredients. It was a little awkward at first to be around the table with strangers, but food quicky worked it's magic and we had delightful dinner conversation.

There was a family from Denmark, a young couple from Pennsylvania who were a kick, and a guy our age who brought his aging parents while they could still enjoy it. His mom has Alzheimer's and it was beautiful to see how everyone answered her questions over and over and the staff doted on her.

I should have taken more pics but was caught up in the moment! (Shocking, I know)
