Our Deluxe Room on the River Princess

This room is quite a bit smaller than the room on an ocean cruise, but the bed is luxurious! The ship is very accessible so you have lots of space outside of the cabin.
I love that we dock right in Czytaj więcej
B-roll

While at the Castle Gardens there was a guy clearly creating some b-roll or doing some sort of modeling for video. So I had to make sure to get some of my own in his style.
Budapest Scenic Night Cruise

We're staying in Budapest overnight but we did a scenic cruise for a couple of hours. Parliament and Buda Castle are like a fairy tale at night!
Walk Through Budapest's Communist Past

Our walking tour through Budapest’s communist history was fascinating. We stood in Liberty Square, once the courtyard of a medieval prison, now home to political monuments from both sides of the Czytaj więcej
Controversial Memorial

This memorial is fairly recent and causes a lot of controversy, as many Hungarians feel it tries to downplay the role of Hungary and their cooperation with the Nazis.

Budapest Retro Museum

The communist museum houses a large number of artifacts from the era, displayed in an interactive and engaging way. I wasn't sure about the stop, but it was incredibly interesting to see the Czytaj więcej
Needed a Hat for Evenings!

It gets cold on the river in the evenings - bring a hat! Guess I have to buy this soft hat from a Russian lady. :)
I reminds me of the fur of a rex rabbit.
Gypsy Talk and Music

Uniworld doesn't offer the big shows of the Icon of the Seas, but instead has wonderful cultural experiences. This group came to play the music of the Gypsies and tell us a bit about the Czytaj więcej
Leaving Budapest

Oh, Budapest, how I love you! Until we meet again.
Osjiek

One of my favorite things about river cruising is waking up right in town, steps from all the sights. We've been to the coast of Croatia, but this is on the opposite border along the Czytaj więcej
Croatian Home Lunch

If you're trying to decide on tour options, always choose the home hosted lunch!!
It was a joy to visit this tiny village outside of Osijek and hear real stories of how the war effected people. I do Czytaj więcej
Vukovar

Our last stop on the tour was Vukovar. It's a little disconcerting at first that your ship often moves during the day while you're off on your adventures - if you go off on your own, listen to the Czytaj więcej
Vukovar Water Tower

Our last quick stop was perhaps the most famous monument to the Croatian War for Independence. Someday I'd like to make the climb to the top.

This was a magical experience. Our ship had a private concert at the museum after hours. The acoustics were fantastic.

Joan

This very sweet lady on the cruise kept offering to take pictures of us, but her thumb was in at least some every time, haha
Sabering Ceremony

This is a tradition on each Uniworld cruise. He cut off the neck of the champagne bottle at just the right angle so that it's still drinkable.
Cats of Belogradchik

Lots of cats lounging around on a hot day
I'm glad we were here in the morning and not the hot afternoon!
Hiking Up the Red Rocks

These rocks above the little town of Belogradchik were made into a fortress off and on. There are 20 miles of these rock formations that you can see from the top.
There's even a formation that looks Czytaj więcej
Hiking Down the Red Rocks

The rebel Velko who took control of the fortress for a while sounds a bit like Robin Hood.
Sunset on the Danube

I can't get over how peaceful it is on the river!
Ruse, Bulgaria

This is one of the bigger towns along the Danube that we've stopped at. Sean was able to go for a run after our trip to the rock churches.
Barsarbovo Rock Monastery

These are a bucket list item for me - I just love medieval buildings built into cliffsides as it reminds me of my favorite book series where they built Holds into rock. The monks built these to hide Czytaj więcej
Barsarbovo Cat

This mama was hanging out by the monastery well taking a break from her kittens up in the church in a box. :)
Barsarbovo Church

The frescos in this Eastern Orthodox church just below the rock monastery are so bright and beautiful! You can see the ones that are outlined with their final plan taped to them.
