Isla Miriadup

Probably the best trip of our time!

This involved taking a speed boat from the coast of Panama, stopping off at different islands throughout San Blas (known as Guna Yala to the indigenous people). These islands are on the Northwest of Panama facing the Caribbean Sea. There are about 378 islands in the archipelago.

We stopped at 2 islands per day over a 4 day trip. We would spend the day on one island and eat freshly caught fish and lobster, then we would stay with the locals on another island in the evening. This is where we met the Kuna people and slept in their village - often in hammocks.

The speed boat part between the islands (and onto Colombia) was the wildest part. If you sat at the front, you were more prone to sea sickness - but if you sat in the back you would get drenched more. We opted for the back, but had to wear snorkels because the sea spray was actually blinding over 2 hours. We still had the better deal though as we could see people up front "feeding the fish" and chucking up over the side of the boat.

We had an amazing time on this tour and met a massive group of new friends that we ended up continuing our travels with throughout Colombia.Läs mer
