We decided to catch the train into Munich to hire bikes for our two week trek along the German Danube. We booked a night at the Hotel Metropole right near the main station for 62 euro. We thought we would book three nights there for two weeks time and leave our luggage there. It turns out that in two weeks time all the prices go through the roof due to some event(s), and the Metropole would be about 900 euro for three nights.
A bit of searching and we found a good alternative around the corner at Arabest Aparthotel for 95 euro per night, and they will store our luggage.
We rented our bikes from Steffen at bikebringer.de. He delivered them to our hotel and was very helpful. Highly recommended.Read more
Matthew EslerHow did the bike situation go on Donaueschingen?
Pat and Tracey EslerThe shop wasn't opening till Tuesday due to a public holiday for Whit Monday (Pentecost), so we just decided to head for Munich, which has worked out well. Currently on the train with our bikes and panniers heading back to Donaueschingen.
