    One of Ulm's claims to fame is the enormous cathedral, which has the tallest church spire in the world, at 161.6m high. We have seen a lot of enormous and ornate cathedrals, but sometimes they contain interesting or unusual statutes and pictures. The six metre high statue of the Archangel Michael is controversial because, with it's sword brandished in a threatening manner, it was installed in 1934 by the National Socialist (Nazi) regime.
    Ulm is the birthplace of Albert Einstein.
