Another early start this morning for a long drive. We got away about 6:30, farewelled by the lovely staff.
For the first part of the drive we were looking out for animals. We almost immediately came upon a hyena running along the road, and about half an hour later saw two male lions resting! Lion sighting number five, and our first males!
At Maun we said goodbye to our guide Modumo and continued in the Nomad truck.
We stopped for the night at Elephant Sands Lodge, which is out on its own north of Nata in Botswana. The main building is next to a large waterhole and the rooms are spread around the waterhole. After dark we had to be escorted to and from the main building.
Red headed and masked weaver birds were nesting in and around the reception/restaurant areas. Elephants came to visit in the evening.
