Build Day 2

Today we had another great day as a team, getting more connected to one another and getting to know each other a little better. We worked really well together as we finished off the house. And awesome crew up on the roof pounding shingles, another crew inside painting the house, several of us just taking on odds and ends with trim and paint and cleaning.

It was hotter today that it was yesterday and it feels good to be back a little bit early to enjoy another nice shower. Sam and several people from our group took the family into town to shop for them. We bought them a bunch of groceries and gifts for their new home. New plates and dinnerware and kitchen utensils and all sorts of things. Part of the build also furnishes the house with a refrigerator, a stove, a kitchen table, a kitchen sink.

In little Zooe's room, they built her a nice bunk bed and got her some nice toys. She was thrilled!

Some of my favorite pictures from the day were of Sam and Zoie in the dirt behind the house, playing with her toys. Of course as often happens with kids around Samantha, they will often glom to her and she makes fast friends with kids. Zoie loved Sam and I think there were definitely some tears when we left. On all of our parts.

Several times I've had the thought that this is what we were made for. For serving people like this. For some reason it feels a lot harder to do when we're at home, but you take one step out of that and it feels easy.Читать далее
