How do you tell the difference between Texas and Oklahoma In the panhandle you can’t , except for the signs. Very boring drive on I-40 to Amarillo. Stopped at Walmart before heading to another KOA. The drive to KOA was through the ugliest scuzzy part of this town, so we were worried. But it is a nice clean quiet RV park. They have a free shuttle service to a local restaurant. So we took advantage of it.Read more

Entering the Land of Enchantment

Another long driving day on I-40. We traveled through more flat grass land. We took a break just after entering New Mexico, for Les to take a short nap. It was only about 11am, but Les was getting tired. Jill figured out that the time zone caught us again. We are now in the Mountain Time Zone! We stopped again about an hour later in Santa Rosa, NM for a Mexican lunch at the Silver Moon. Really great food! As we continued on to Albuquerque, the landscape changed to Juniper forest in strongly undulating mills and valleys. The wind was mostly head on, so the gas mileage suffered. Cruise control was useless. We gassed up at Costco before checking in at the nearby KOA. While the laundry was in the dryer, we were in the indoor hot tub! Many KOAs have a variety of interesting amenities. We decided to spend two nights here since we have been pushing to get west. But we are getting more tired because of the driving.Read more

Lay over Day

Got up after sleeping in and headed off to breakfast. Then on to Walgreens to pick up Jill’s medicine. But they didn’t have it. They checked another Walgreens and got the prescription filled. We could not pick it up until noon, so we went grocery shopping. We finally got Jill’s medicine at the other Walgreens and went to lunch. It was a long lunch and we didn’t feel like sightseeing, so back to the motorhome. Looking at Facebook, Jill found lots of aurora photos from all over the US. We did some looking to see what the aurora forecast was for this evening and started looking for a dark sky location near by. As evening approached, the sky began to cloud. We decided not to go anywhere, instead Les took pictures from the campground. Alas, no aurora this far south.Read more

Continuing on today on I-40. We took our lunch break in Gallup, NM. Ended the day at Homolovi State Park just east of Winslow, AZ.

Last steak

So we started today, with the idea of getting to Kingman, Az. Les was feeling fine at lunch, another 2 hours and we are now at Lake Mead. While cloudy, the weather is perfect for Les cooking one last steak on our little grill.Read more

Storm picked up in the afternoon, rain and wind made driving tiring so stopped in Tonopah. There is a RV stop, wouldn’t call park, behind the Tonopah Station. Power and place to park. One more day to home.Read more

Home again!

Last day of travel. Stopped in Smith Valley for lunch along highway. Then HOME, after 107 nights/Days. Map shows our loop around the country, wish we could spent more time returning, Indy and Cinnamon really excited to be home as well. All ends well.Read more
