  • Day 1 Travel to Oxley

    Up early this morning at 4:30 still dark, got the last minute jobs done, sorted out Leroy as he is left home alone, loaded up the ponies and hit the road around 6, had a good run into Traralgon then onto the freeway and stopped off at officer for breakfast then made our way through the city and onto the Hume Freeway heading north to the warm weather had a good run and arrived at Forges farm at 12, had a bit of a time getting in the gateway just squeezed in will know for next time to take a big wide crack at it, super busy got a camp at the end on the creek setup and had lunch then Sas and Daniel got in around 2:30 and then Steve and Jake and kids got in around an hour later, had a quick walk around the place , cooking up snags in bread for an easy dinner with a few bevies at camp, a warm avo with a nice breeze.Read more

    Day 2 Team Sorting

    The night cooled down well and we were up early for a 7am start, the cattle were very tough and none of our teams did that well and none of them sorted all ten, Jake did the best with 9 through with a random partner, a great place to have an event with music playing non stop and Macca the judge a very funny fella keeping everyone entertained making it a fun day for all, warmed up well and was a day for the big hats, the kids had a great time in there events and Elie even had a spill off PK and Jake managed to hang on to him, great job! The day was done by 5 and then dinner was served on the house lawn with live music from a couple of local girls, had a few more bevies on the lawn and back at camp, into bed around 10.Read more

    Day3 Team Sorting

    Up early again for another day of sorting, stayed warm overnight, 7am start and the cattle were sticky again as it was another fresh mob for today, all our teams performed well but no one got 10 through again, most scored with no disqualifications which was good, a great day again for all with the tunes cranking and Macca again keeping all of us entertained, the kids had one run today and did well again, weather was great again around 30 the day was done by 2 and presentation was not long to follow with Tuppy Forge and Zebra winning her own event and also taking out the fastest time. The clouds started to roll in and then a good thunderstorm hit, that scattered everyone, was a quiet night hiding under shelter as it rained till about 8:30, a few more bevies and into bed.Read more

    Day 4 Chill out

    Another magic morning in the north east after last night’s thunderstorms, had a sleep in this morning, doing some house keeping jobs and moved the horse fences to give them more space for the week, went for a walk around and checked out the farm and just had a quiet afternoon, got a lamb roast slow cooking on the Weber baby Q for souvlaki and it was awesome, a few bevies and into bed around 10Read more

    Day5 Touring around

    Cooled down nice overnight up at 6:30 this morning, the kids went off fishing and Teresa took slippery for a ride in the sand yard, bacon and eggs for breakfast then we went into town for a few supplies. Headed off to Paradise falls for a look was very nice a short but steep walk down well worth the look, then we made our way back to Milawa for lunch at the bakery, caught up with the rest of the crew and set off to Brown Bros winery for an avo of wine tasting and sips out in the gardens, very nice, back to camp to tend to the horse jobs and more drinks with dinner and then we all had a few games with the kids till dark, another nice day in the north east.Read more

    Day 6 Top Cut Out

    Woke up to another great day full sun and 30 degrees expected today, just chilled out around camp, the gang went for a ride to the river for a look around and a bit of pre work for tonight’s run, the avo warmed up, Teresa went out and mustered stock ready for the weekend, then it was time to get ready for the top cut out, Daniel was first and cracked off then, Steve, Sas and Jake all got cracked off in their runs, Teresa and Slippery had a great run with a score of 21 just getting beaten by the ‘Malboro man’ who scored 22, back to camp for hamburgers then up to the farm house for drinks, a great night chatting and drinking, we all hit the sack around 1am to 4am will be a few foggy head’s tomorrow morning.Read more

    Day 7 Australia Day

    Had a little sleep in out at 8:30 to an overcast morning, took Minnie for a walk and helped move a few panels in the arena ready for watering and ripping up, most of us are good just a little tired, just chilling out for the morning, went down to the river with a group of horses and vehicles led by Tup in the afternoon for a few drinks and a play in the river, then back to camp and Teresa and Craig went up to the farm house for drinks while the rest of the crew went to the pub for tea, into bed early to try and catch the early cool tomorrow morning, Happy Australia Day 🇦🇺Read more

    Day 8 Chill out

    Going to be a hot day around the mid 30’s, another day relaxing on the farm, Teresa and Jake have gone for a ride the rest of us a just chilling out for the morning, went into town to grab some feed for slippery with Jake, then went down to the river for a few drinks with the gang was very relaxing on a warm day, then back to camp and Teresa was called to help bring the cattle in for tomorrow and i jumped on a side by side with Steve and we headed out for a bit of mustering, all went well then there was a few antics at the cattle yard with Mr Forge 😬 a fun late afternoon, home for tea and then back up to the farm house for drinks, into bed at 11 for an early start.Read more

    Day 9 Team Penning

    Out of bed this morning at 4:45 still dark got the horses saddled up and Teresa went off and got the rest of the cows in for todays event, got under way just after 6 to beat the heat today, the only team to do any good out of our crew was Jake, Steve and Shane penning 3 in both of their runs, everyone else ran out of time or penned only 1 or 2 cattle, Teresa, Sas and Daniel had a super fast cut out and a beast got under Teresa and that was the end of a great time, the kids had a go and Ruby and Indy did a great job penning all 3 of their cattle, a credit to all we were done by lunch so we could have the avo to escape the heat of the day, so had a quick lunch and then down to the river for the avo to have a swim and few bevies.
    Tea was on the lawn from Benalla bites and the Sinclair girls had a the tunes pumping, the night just continued on with the party box and Jake’s slug and belt tugger war was in fine form, stayed up till around 11 and then left the young ones to the doof doof tunes and went to bed

    Day 10 Team Penning

    Up at 6 this morning for a 7 o’clock start, Graham had given the arena a fair dose of water, he spent a good bit of time running around smudging to get it right, started dead on 7 with Macca in fine form again, all teams went well and penned all 3 cattle in each runs, the rain just held off till the last run and then it came down, presentation was under the veranda and Jake, Sexy Steve and Shane got 6th place and Bronwyn, Jane and Kristy got 5th place a great job from our Gippsland teams, back to camp to do a little packing in the rain, all of our crew are heading home today accept us, got the kids sorted and they head off around 2, we headed off to the neighbours for a few avo sips which we then ended up at the farm house for more drinks and bbq tea, well the night just got hilariously funny with Kristy in fine form, I don’t think any of had any laugh left there was drinks getting spit out on the table everywhere an awesome night with the best company, Graham took us all home in the side by side and into bed around 11 still raining and a cool night for sleeping 😴 you comin 😂😂Read more
