Day 9 Tues-Grottos and Snakes
31. maj 2022, Canada ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C
Another day of adventure…this time we headed up to Tobermory NP to go see the Grotto….This NP we had to pay to go to….the sign at the gate as we went to pay had a Caution Bears in area …so I had my hopes up we might see a bear….
The walk thank goodness was much shorter and my poor feet from my new boots felt very sore and I was concerned they would give blisters….and yep by the end I had blisters….
The track was so much better than yesterdays, mostly under a pine Forrest so the flooring was more spongy feeling….we took the 45 minute walk to the Lake to start with unreal the massive rock edged lake all white and clean looking….this is where my blisters started appearing as my feet not being on stable ground moved around inside my boots 🥾….as the track chopped and changed from Rocks to dirt…back to Rocky craggy cliffs and back to hard solid ground the friction had done its magic on my poor feet giving me a couple of blisters…
The scene was very picturesque here from wooded over growth tracks to walking beside the lake…the to scale Rocky cliff escarpments to find the Grotto… it was another unreal sight to behold, only spoiler was the volume of people around the Grotto area…well I thought it was a big volume until we were heading back and streams of people were heading into the tracks so glad we went earlier as the volume in the Grotto area would have been too many to enjoy the views….so pretty with light coloured rock platforms walks etc and along the top of it were hears of smaller conifer pine trees…..certainly looked so lovely…
We had lots of people stop and chat to Tim with Phoenix….heading back Jess and Tim spotted a snake on the path…I took some pics not real good ones and the best on I took it looks like I accidentally deleted it 😢😢😢 Jess was brave enough to video it…it had lots of pale bands around it….2nd snake in 2 days!!!😩after seeing snakes only a few weeks ago in Thailand and now here my goodness I have had my fill of the creatures well and truly!
Once back to the cars I took my boots off my very sore feet to let the breath…and off we set to go to the Tobermory Brewing Co for lunch. We had fish and chips…which was ho hmmm….Tim and Jess ordered burgers they were huge, but again the Chips were like most places we have been soggy and not all that tasty….
A look around the harbour with its marina of huge boats….lots of sightseeing boats as well as a big car ferry that comes in…it looks like the ocean, but all fresh water how unreal…
All of us bought ice creams again…I have to stop getting them, they are too sweet and make me sick for ages..who would think something so yummy could upset your tummy so much….
Tim and Jess went to check out some wet lands and we headed home for another much needed rest…The walk too us a good 2.5 hrs…not as long as yesterday but with climbing over all the rocks etc we were all pretty had it after yesterdays efforts…
A quite afternoon….finished with a yummy dinner of sausages and veggies cooked on the BBQ, I made mash potatoes 🥔 which helped the meal come together…
Our time here is up we head off tomorrow….Læs mere
