    Overnight Train

    We travelled down from Chiang Mai to Bangkok on the overnight sleeper train
    This was an interesting experience, the train journey started off well, seats were comfortable and we ordered some dinner which was pretty tasty considering it was cooked on a train.
    Then came the sleeping part.... Our seats were turned into beds at 8.30pm so an early night for us but the doors to the carriage kept sliding open so it just banged all night and the train ride was quite bumpy and they didn't turn off any of the lights. Anyway we arrived in Bangkok at 6.10am and saw the sunrise as we pulled into the station although we got very little sleep it is all part of the adventure.    Meer informatie

    River Kwai

    After arriving in Bangkok early we hopped on a bus to Kanchanaburi which is where the Bridge over the river kwai is located, very lucky that not many people were on the bridge when we took a walk

    War Cemetery and Skywalk

    Today we explored Kanchanaburi
    There is a war cemetery where memorials to 12000 POW
    6900 were buried here and some represented were never found 😔

    We then headed down to the river to do a skywalk ( a new attraction) it has a glass floor so great for viewingMeer informatie

    Erawan Falls

    An early start to catch the bus to Erawan Falls which I have to say was a little bit disappointing mainly due to the lack of rain they have experienced so the waterfalls weren't as impressive as they could have been but it still nice to see them
    When we got there we headed straight to the highest level number 7 and then worked our way back down.
    If you wanted to swim in the pools you had to hire and wear a lifejacket 🙄 which we did, but the water wasn't very deep so we felt it was a bit pointless for adults.    Meer informatie

    Koh Chang

    Today we took the bus to Trat and then a ferry across to Koh Chang
    It wasn't the most welcoming weather as when we got on the ferry the heavens opened and it chucked it down with rain but never mind we checked into our hostel and just relaxed
    We found a great Italian restaurant just across the road so we treated ourselves to a pizza, some wine and an aperol spritz    Meer informatie

    Today we rented a scooter and headed to a local beach with some people from the hostel

    Island exploring

    Took our scooter all the way to the south of the island, it was a little overcast but still lovely and warm. Stopped at a little fishing village and walked down the pier
    From the pier you can see the abandoned cruise ship but it was closed so couldn't explore
    Oh and there was a huge spider in the bathroom!!!!!    Meer informatie

    On the road again

    We left the island of Koh Chang and headed towards Bangkok, we decided to not book a mini van and just wing it....
    Which turned out in our favour and saved us money!

    We arrived in Bangkok at around 5pm jumped on a bus and made our way to the train station called Bang Sue 😉 hoping there were still tickets for the overnight train.

    Now our last experience on the sleeper train wasn't the best so I can't say we were looking forward to it but needs must and they did still have seats available but only in First class so we decided to treat ourselves after an already long day and it was the best decision.

    Whilst we waited for the train to depart Richard found showers at the train station and checked out the massage chairs he boarded the train feeling very relaxed

    We had our own little cabin just for us and we both managed to get some good sleep before arriving at Surat Thani    Meer informatie

    We spent a couple of days in Surat Thani just to relax after our long travel day.
    It's a meeting point in the south of Thailand as you can go off to the islands or off to the national park

    Koh Samui

    Today we boarded a ferry to the island of Koh Samui which is about an hour away from the mainland.

    The sea is the perfect temperature and to be honest there are not that many people here.

    The hotel we are staying at had made us cute little elephants with the towels 😍

    We have been enjoying the sunshine and so far no rain 👍    Meer informatie

    Koh Samui to Khao Sok

    Now don't get me wrong Koh Samui is nice if you want to chill on a white sandy beach all day but that just isn't our thing.
    Unfortunately as they haven't had any rain all of the waterfalls on the island have dried up and it was in the news that if it doesn't rain soon the island may run out of water!
    We had some delicious breakfasts and ate at a local fresh market just up the road from our hotel but tbh I wouldn't rush back to the island.
    We got up at 5am Monday morning to leave the island and headed across to Khao Sok National Park 😍    Meer informatie

    Khao Sok

    Rainy season has finally caught up with us
    There was a storm overnight and we woke up to a power cut so cold showers for us!
    We wandered around the village this morning and managed to find a restaurant that was open for some breakfast, power finally came back on late morning 👍
    We went tubing this afternoon down the river with a local guide and he was great, pointing out monkey's, snakes, monitor lizards and different types of plants, it was really relaxing 😎    Meer informatie

    National Park - Khao Sok

    Wow!!!!
    Even though we had a couple of showers our day on the lake was incredible and the pictures we took just don't do it justice.
    We went out on a long tail boat, hiked to a diamond cave, saw some bats 🦇 huge spiders 🕷️🕸️ and a cute gekho 🦎
    Then we headed into the rainforest learning about the flora and fauna before stopping on a floating restaurant for lunch
    Then it was back to the boat to start our journey home

    Railay Beach

    It's wasn't the best weather today but we braved a very choppy sea and took a longtail boat to Railway Beach which you can only reach by boat ⛵
    The beach was beautiful and you can walk across the mainland to another beach where you could do rock climbing if you wanted to and there is a cave full of wooden penises which apparently bring good luck and fertility to those who touch them.
    Richard hiked up to a viewpoint which wasn't the easiest as mainly tree roots and a rope so I stayed behind    Meer informatie

    Travel day to Hat Yai

    After a delicious breakfast we had a long travel day ahead of us, we left our hostel at 10.30am and checked into our new location at 6.30pm
