In the first trilogy, the tree atop Bag End was cut down elsewhere and framed up for the filming. In the Hobbit, Peter Jackson commissioned an entire fake tree complete with fake leaves. It's stillWeiterlesen
They filmed the new Pete's Dragon movie here (which was a very sweet movie, I recommend it.) I could have spent all day wandering through the trees, happy as can be.
Visited a nice little nature park before leaving town. They had a number of native birds, fish, and lizards. The lizard picture is of a young Tuatara, which is the only surviving species of a lizardWeiterlesen
Try not to fall in :/ Not a terribly vertical waterfall but the sheer volume of water boiling around in there was a bit nerve-wracking.
Not hard to see why this was chosen as Mordor, although Mt Doom didn't deign to make an appearance :(
