Dune 40

Today we are leaving Sossusvlei to continue north, but before leaving there was time to head out to the dunes one more time—after breakfast, of course. To be honest, we'd had early starts each morning so we could eat breakfast, so this wasn't any different other than packing suitcases and loading them into the trailer.

There were lovely colours from the sunrise as we left, then on the way to the dunes we stopped for photos in the morning light. We then headed to Dune 40 as we all felt, having been there yesterday, that it was worth another visit. It was the right decision.

The light seemed much better than yesterday, with some of the colours reminiscent of Deadvlie. Plus, with the sunlight shining from the opposite direction, it changed the feel of the place. And then it was time to leave and that was a little sad really, because I really enjoyed my time in the desert over the past few days. But there are more adventures waiting for us.Read more
