Cumberland Gap, Kentucky

Stopped for lunch in the picnic area here - very beautiful at this time of year. Watched a short movie about Daniel Boone blazing a trail through the Gap and another about the Gap
itself. The conditions were extremely tough for those early trail blazers, especially in winter. When you see the countryside itself it's almost impossible to imagine how families, especially women with babies, survived the journey. Didnt see any bears apart from the one in the visitors centre. On the way home we got caught in a storm and I don't know how Sue drove through it. You couldnt see any distance in front of the car and then the lightning started - very scary! But we made it home and its good to be back in Bardstown.Weiterlesen
