Moses H Cone House, Boone

Yesterday we stopped off at the house of Moses Cone, who had made money from textiles and from developing 25 miles of carriage roads. It's now an Art & Craft/information centre in the beautiful old house and the carriage house contains the restrooms. We walked to the family cemetery -
The most beautiful walk through shade from lovely old trees and everywhere was green. It must have been a very long walk to take the coffin on the carriage to the cemetery- we walked about two miles there and back and we were wearing shorts and t-shirts, not dressed in the heavy black clothes of the early days.Read more
