    Anaheim - Stovalls Inn

    Finally made it after a long day of travel. Not much sleep so all ready for bed at 6:30. Everything went smoothly. Levi loved watching movies and TV on the plane while Rohan liked listening to music and following the map of where we were. Hotel looks good so far.Read more

    Alamo Car Rental - LAX

    After picking up our bags we hopped straight on a waiting shuttle to collect our rental car. Smooth process and we were told we could pick any from the appropriate section and there were more than 20 to choose from. We got a free upgrade to a 7 seater Dodge. Great car.Read more

    Disneyland

    After 11 hours of sleep and breakfast we were ready for our first day at Disneyland. We met Goofy on the way in and had loads of rides through the day. Our favourites were splash mountain, Indiana Jones, space mountain, buzz lightyear, the matterhorn but our most favourite was the Big Thunder Mountain train ride which we went on 6 times. Crowds were ok and had a great time. Walked about 17 km for the day and ready for bed straight after dinner.Read more

    Knott's Berry Farm

    Another day of rides. Not as busy or fancy as Disney but the rides are good. Rohan is becoming extremely daring and loved some of the fast roller coasters with loop the loops. Levi loved the coast rider and the log ride and puts his arms up at every opportunity. Both loved dinner that night at Bubba Gumps.Read more

    Citadel Outlets - Shopping Day

    Levi's worst day so far with the picture below his only highlight. However collecting the plastic tops of the coat hangers with the sizes on them kept the boys busy for the 5 hours we were there. Some bargains were found, and ended the day with dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.Read more

    Medieval Times Buena Park, United States

    Morning spent around the hotel pool and spa while mum did some washing. After lunch went to target to spend some Christmas money. Levi got a smart watch and of course Rohan some Lego. Tonight we went to Medieval times a dinner/show where we cheered on the blue knight against 5 others in a jousting and fighting tournament. He came 2nd but we had a great time especially with our feast which we had to eat without utensils.Read more

    Disney California Adventureland

    Our 2nd day at Disney this time the new park. Bigger crowds but we had another great day. Rohan's favourite ride anywhere is California Screamin and we also had a go at Tower of Terror. The cars ride was spectacular.Read more

    Disneyland - last day

    Our last day at Disney where we got to go on our favourite rides from the first 2 days and a few new ones. The water rapids ride was unsurprisingly the shortest line but we went on it a few times and got a little wet. After 3 days and a lot of walking (about 15km each day) our Disney time was over. We all love it but we're glad we were not there in peak season. Off to San Diego tomorrow.Read more

    Left Anaheim for the drive to San Diego. Mostly 4 to 6 lane freeway all the way. Stopped for a break at LA Jolla to check out the seals who live there. Levi not impressed with the smell. After checking in went for a run around at Misson Bay Park and then headed to Old Town (a small village showing the areas Mexican history) The boys were impressed with the free candy you get for completing a colouring sheet at dinner.Read more

    Sea World

    Today we went to Sea World and it was a great day to do it. The park was almost empty which meant we could get straight on any rides we wanted and get great seats for the shows. The boys loved it all except for lunchtime when a big seagull took Levi's hotdog right out of his hand.Read more

    San Diego Zoo

    Today we headed to the zoo and what a great zoo it is. We walked a lot again but there were no complaints as there an amazing amount of animals and a lot of interesting exhibits. Levi liked the orangutans and gorilla while Rohan was a fan of the rhino and flamingos.Read more

    Belmont Park

    Today we had a bit of a free day in San Diego so after breakfast which the boys are loving we headed down to the beach and found an old style funfair called Belmont Park. We got a deal on Groupon which got us $150 worth of arcade games for $40. We played all sorts of games and before we knew it we had been there for 4 hours. We won a few jackpots and after our money was up we had enough points to get a cool new game and a heap of lollies. Levi loved playing deal or no deal and Rohan liked a game where you had to knock down clowns with balls.Read more

    Legoland Hotel

    After breakfast we left our San Diego hotel to head to Legoland. We stopped on the way to get our Santa photos and arrived early at Legoland hotel but were able to check in early as it was quiet. We loved this place as it was designed so well for kids. At check in we got a treasure hunt with clues that helped unlock a chest in our room with lego prizes and chocolate coins inside. The bunk beds were great and the room had a heap of lego models as decorations. The elevator turned in to a disco when the doors shut and at night there was entertainment such as lego building competitions. Levi made a great parrot.Read more

    Legoland

    Today we went to Legoland which was right out the back door of the hotel. While the kids loved it and some of the models were amazing for adults it felt like a school fete with some good lego stuff and some noticeably aging lego models. Even the best ride was out of action for the day and the others were very tame especially for the boys who are now used to more thrills. Got back to the hotel and found our treasure chest was refilled with more lego. Happy boys.Read more

    Redondo Beach

    Checked out of our great hotel but before we left the boys had a quick swim in the pool. We then drove to Redondo Beach one of the many beachside suburbs of LA. After checking in Mum did some washing while we checked out the beach. A bit of a rest day.Read more

    Universal Studios

    Off to Universal Studios today and we had a great day. The 3d rides were great including Minions,Transformers and The Simpsons and Levi loved The Jurassic Park ride. (Of course it involved us getting wet) The shows were great as were the new additions to the studio tour. The new Harry Potter area was spectacular.Read more

    Bike riding. Hermosa Beach

    Headed down to the beach and rented some bikes for a cruise along the bike path. It runs 30 odd miles along the beaches and is basically flat the whole way. Great chance to check out some amazing but pricey homes. Levi loved being pulled along while Rohan was going great until he had a minor stack which ended in a visit to the lifeguard for a bandaid on his grazed knee. An ice cream on the pier seemed to fix all injuries. That afternoon and night we saw the only rain for our entire time in the states.Read more

    Hollywood and Escape Room

    A quick trip to Hollywood to show the boys and they found a couple of their favourite stars. We then went to an escape room where we had to solve loads of puzzles to unlock doors and locks and eventually find the treasure. Everyone had a blast and we made out with only a few little clues. Levi is desperate to do another one. That night we had a look at the local Christmas light display in which virtually every house in an entire neighbourhood gets involved.Read more

    Las Vegas

    We decided to head to Las Vegas a day earlier than originally planned as we had done everything we wanted to in LA and with great weather we have not had to miss anything. We did the 4 and a half hour drive and checked in to the Westin for 1 night before moving to The Cosmopolitan tomorrow. First thing we noticed was how much colder it was as it dropped to below zero overnight.Read more

    Cosmopolitan Las Vegas

    Some more bargain hunting in the morning (including a suitcase as a result) before moving to our other hotel The Cosmopolitan and the boys were excited to find out we were on the 49th floor with a great view. That night we went to the Wicked Spoon buffet. Rohan was in his element and tried nearly everything there. Pastas, crab, prawns, a variety of sushi's, frogs legs, chilli and 4 plates of the dessert.Read more

    Headed off to Red Rock Casino as we had some vouchers for some bowling and brunch. They had 60 lanes and we had a lot of fun. Once again we devoured a variety of foods. A lot of very large people at these buffets and I can see why. A very light dinner that night as we were still stuffed.Read more

    Shark reef and Mac King Show.

    Off to Mandalay Bay this morning for breakfast and to check out their shark reef. Fairly small aquarium but we had free tickets and we even got a free Santa photo. Visited the M&M store and get some tickets for a show later. In the afternoon we went to the Mac King Show. It was a great show, a very funny and skilled magician. An early night as our alarm was set for 5 am for our flight to Vancouver in the morning.Read more

    Vancouver

    After an early rise we flew to Vancouver with no dramas. Picked up our car and had an easy trip to Brett and Sue's. After a recent snowstorm there was plenty of ice on the ground still. We let ourselves in and we're greeted by a very excited and friendly dog, Drifter. The kids are in love with him and he is such a good dog.Brett arrived home not long after and soon followed by Sue and Ryan. That afternoon we went to watch Ryan play hockey and Levi was very excited to watch and especially when their team made a comeback to win. We played some games and called it a night, a great day.Read more
