Underground Coober

We didn’t have much time to explore today although Rosie did manage to duck underground at Umooma Mine. The tour included a walk though the original mine and miner’s den as well as a contemporary underground home. 70% of housing is underground, an idea believed to have been brought back from returning veterans from the trenches of WW1. We followed a seam line in the wall leading to a nice find! It was seriously hard work back in the day without the machinery used today - you can see the difference between the old and new living quarters and tunnels.Læs mere
