Mary Kathleen

What an amazing place! Mary Kathleen was a purpose built town to house miners after the discovery of a Uranium deposit in 1954. It was named after the deceased wife of one of the founders. By all accounts, the town was a thriving community with a school, town square, lush gardens, oval, picture theatre etc etc. mine closed the buildings were auctioned off and all that is left are the foundations.

Fascinating to wander through and picture the buildings that were once there. Nowadays it’s a popular camping spot - pick a slab, crank a fire and you’re all set! Jasper enjoyed his explorations and especially meeting a couple of curious calves who wandered over to check him out….Neither were too sure about getting too close though!Okumaya devam et
