Lunch at Chez Etienne in Marseille followed by a wander... A stunning town.

Marseille, France's second city and oldest port, spreads from its historic Vieux-Port up into the surrounding hills. The city's character is defined by its Mediterranean identity, where centuries of maritime trade and immigration have created a distinctly multicultural atmosphere. The Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica stands sentinel over the city, whilst at street level, the bustling Noailles quarter offers North African markets and spice shops. Around the Vieux-Port, restaurants serve the city's signature bouillabaisse, whilst ferry boats shuttle visitors to the Château d'If. The recently developed Euroméditerranée district and the striking MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) represent Marseille's modern face, contrasting with the historic Le Panier neighbourhood's narrow lanes and artisanal shops.Les mer
