• Whitehaven Beach

    Whitehaven Beach is one of those attractions that actually lives up to the hype.

    The sandy beach, mostly silica hence the colour, goes for kilometers. We put in a good half hour walking and didn't get close to the end.

    The water is crystal clear. When I opened my eyes after diving in I saw dozens of quite large fish right in front of me. The quality of the water reminded me of some of the beaches we visited in Sardinia and the Ionian Islands but with actual sand rather than pebbles.

    I'm pleased to report that the state of the beach, despite the high number of tourists, was very clean.
