Epic day. Woke up at 4 am after 4 hours of sleep to a pirate scare that was just unlit and curious fishing vessels. Heavy rain and squalls and an awkward on deck inflating of my SUP. Then I lead Dave into our potential anchorage only to find knee deep water barring our way. Found a nice anchorage in a deluge. Then I SUPed 3nm across the bay to meet my brother from another mother, Trevor, who due to weather had been waiting a week for me to arrive. Dropping a hook into the sea and trusting the boat that was lent to me was a big concern before I started sailing solo. Not only did I have zero experience with the process but I was going to do it under sail power alone. Now that I have done it a few times I realize it is quite simple. It's also reassuring knowing Dolce is equipped with 3 oversize, well respected, and proven anchors + 100's of feet of chain. I also enjoy pulling it up and sailing away even though it is still a bit stressful. #anchor #sailing #pirates #hook #sailthepacificOkumaya devam et

It looks like Dave, Dolce, and I will be reunited once again for a quick sail to Macau. Dave comes through big time once again! Big respect to him. A team of Hong Kong all stars were unable to secure a permit for me to travel by bicycle to the border with China. They make everyone take a train or bus. It's not the best timing as the President is visiting this weekend to celebrate 20 years since the handover. Heightened security and I'm sure they just couldn't be bothered by some gweilo on a bike. I even pulled out my special letter from my MP in the Canadian government to no avail. Ah well. I'm very interested to see Macau and speak a little Portuguese. Operation leave Catba Island went over mostly smooth today. Rein had a fun boat ride with a kayak while I bicycled 23 km to the north port of the island to meet him. I then hopped on the kayak and paddled as fast as I could to avoid any issues. Rein waited for another boat to transport our bikes. A passenger ferry had a head start on me and I soon overtook it as the folks hollered at me. Then Rein pulled up beside me in a different boat and the driver told me to get on. I said no and quickly paddled away. He looked upset and I heard him yelling soon after. I paddled harder than before and whooped that ferries butt. I met Rein on the mainland and we then biked another 58 km to finish off the day. #pinkkayak #relief #catbaisland #vietnam #kayakingadventuresOkumaya devam et
