    Fushimi Inari

    Fushimi Inari-taisha is the most important of the (many) shrines to Inari, the Shinto god of rice and agriculture. Lining the mountain path are thousands of torii, and there are many fox (kitsune) statues as well, as the fox is the messenger of Inari; the foxes often hold a key to the rice granary in their mouths.Read more
