    (1) Hot springs formed in a exploded volcanic caldera of Mount Kuttara are the source for the thermal baths in Noboribetsu, and the sulfur in the air as well as the bubbling, boiling water gives this area its nickname of “Hell Valley.” (2) At night, lanterns illuminate the boardwalk through Jigokudani.
