Roughly 9-hour roundtrip hike up an extinct stratovolcano (el. 1,721 m or 5,646 ft; last eruption: 5830 BC). I took the main Oshidomari hiking trail just short of the summit. I wanted to take Kutsugata trail down, but it was really sketchy. Missing the last bus (by over an hour—it was not close)… and an apparent lack of taxis meant another 15 km of walking to get back to Rishiri/Kutsugata.Read more
