We were able to score a FREE lake front campsite. The bugs are thick and have big teeth in this part of Alaska. This campsite has to be the loneliest site ever, with the nearest neighbor 200 ft away with our own private toilet. Due to remoteness of this site, we loaded the shotgun just in case a bear came to visit.
The campsite is located in a Taiga forest area, which is a black spruce forest devoured by insects, and burns often. The trees are very small. "Taiga" is Russian for "land of little sticks".
Note: We are now on Alaska standard time zone, which is an hour before Pacific and two hours before Mountain time. Having a hard time figuring out when it's time to go to bed.もっと詳しく
