ПутешественникWhen I was looking back at the beginning of our trip, somehow it showed us going from Dallas, New Mexico, skipping Tucson to go to Vegas and then back to Tucson. Since that wasn’t the route, I tried to override it hence the Tucson, Arizona stop.

ПутешественникThe expansive Hoover Dam is the largest damn in the US. Covers 2 states- Arizona & Nevada. It takes a lot of people to keep it running but exactly how many is a secret. Our tour guide said he would have to kill us if he told us😝 Security reasons. The new Sphere arena is truly something to see. Seating is very steep so if you have an issue with heights be prepared. Watched Postcards From Earth. A film that makes you think about what we are doing to our planet 🌎 Went to stratosphere to go up the Strat Skypod Tower. Up 1,149 feet to capture the Las Vegas night landscape 🤩 Making the best of our unplanned stay in Vegas – fuel guage issues - we visited The Seven Magic Mountains which is South of Vegas the middle of the dessert- a colorful display of massive stacked rocks !

    19 марта 2024 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Mt. Shasta, CA - A very impressive double peaked dormant volcano in Northern California. A sacred place for Native Americans. As we drove up 5 north, it became clear just how it dominated the landscape as we got closer. Beautiful with snow blanketing the peak’s

Crater Lake, OR - Tucked away in southern Oregon. Took us about 2 hours to drive to see this most beautiful and unusual lake. It was formed by the eruption of the volcano Magama. The majority of the water comes from rain and snow falling directly on the surface not streams which is typical for a lake. It had no fish until it was stocked for fishing starting 1888.

The RV spot Michael reserved was right on the River😍 so peaceful!

The scenery in this area of Northern California is spectacular. The Pacific Ocean in all its powerful beauty and the Old Redwoods lining all your travels.

We even got to drive through a redwood tree, with the Jeep NOT the RV of course. Stumbled upon a hollowed out Redwood too.
Westen enjoyed the smell of the Pacific Ocean.

As we ventured on 101 we stumbled upon a few quaint coastal towns. A few of our favs were Trinidad, CA and Brookings, OR. Trinidad is a fishing town with amazing views and Brookings a harbor town where I had the best crab sandwich- Yummy!!!

    Portland Oregon area

    29 мар.–7 апр. 2024, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

In a nutshell: family, aviation, wine and the Hood 💜

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum was a must see for Michael. It houses the Spruce Goose, also known as the Hughes Flying Boat. Six times larger than any aircraft of its time, is made entirely of wood and flew just one time on November 2, 1947, in Long Beach, California. Watch this video of the trip to OR from CA - https://youtu.be/nfkyhj-g22w

I do believe Oregon does not get its fair share of attention when it comes to great Wineries. Shout out to Coeur de Terre Vineyard. Sampled some great wines while soaking up the beautiful landscape.

Spent time with my brother and since he has lived in Oregon for 20 plus years, he was the best tour guide. Giving us fun factoids while hosting us. We drove to one of my brother’s favorite places, Mt. Hood and hiked around. Time spent with Darren was priceless 💕

Washington state is majestic especially with all the recent rain. Our travels have been lined with amazing landscapes😍

Fort Warden State Park - 434 acres and rest on a high bluff that overlooks Puget Sound. It was an active fort in the 19th century and homed nearly 1,000 troops and officers defending Puget Sound. Many of the buildings remain intact. We visited the grounds and museum where Ron, a vet, gave us an amazing tour😊

Port Townsend - A cute town along Port Townsend Bay. The ferry comes and goes from Seattle transporting RVs, cars and people.

Sol Duc Falls (Olympic National Park) -To get to these Falls it was a haul from our campsite. On the way we kept commenting hopefully it is worth it! It was! The mile hike to get there was lined with beautiful shades of green and tall redwoods. Streams abound making peaceful music for your walk up. Bummer was it’s a national park and so Westen could not join us. We did find the Spruce Railroad Trail that is on an old railroad track around the Crescent Lake we could all enjoy

    Cape Flattery Trail/Rialto Beach, WA

    11 апреля 2024 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ 🌧 9 °C

Makah Tribal Marina, Neah Bay, WA - Took a beautiful and windy trip on Hwy 112 along the Juan de Fuca straight to get to Cape Flattery Trail. The westernmost point of the contiguous United States. The area is on an Indian Reservation at the top of Washington State, and the trail leads to one of the most majestic views. You can view Tatoosh Island (lighthouse stationed on it) and the surrounding water pounding against the mighty rocks. The hike out was spectacular too!

Stopped in Forks, WA for lunch which is known for where the Twilight Movies were filmed 😝 🧛

Rialto Beach - Rocky beaches, giant drift logs, pounding waves from the Pacific and views of offshore islands known as 'sea stacks'

    17 апреля 2024 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Space Needle - We had a beautiful/clear day to visit the Space Needle. At 520 feet above ground we had spectacular view of Mount Reiner and the Olympic Mountains. As well as the view of the Seattle 😊 The Loupe bar located in the Space Needle has the first and only rotating glass floor at 500 feet above ground. From that height it can be unnerving at first sight when looking down.

Pikes Place Market 🐠- Of course we visited Pikes Place Market and enjoyed some good seafood for lunch.

Took a stroll through Olympic Sculpture Park.

    Canadian Border Crossing Aldergrove, BC

    20 апреля 2024 г., Канада ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Well, the picture captures our Canadian Border crossing experience. Pulled up to the booth containing the agent in a lane way too skinny for our RV. Answered all his questions and provided him with the required docs. He recorded some info and then said ..”Ok move to secondary screening, exit your RV and go into the waiting area to speak with the inspection agent..”. I asked what we do with Westen and he said there was a kennel area. I’m thinking a mini dog park, but no a cage.

We followed the inspection agent’s instruction as two agents border the RV with a search dog. 45 mins later we were released - no issues identified. WELCOME TO CANADA.

As a side note, there have been a number of posts on the forums I follow that folks with TX plates get screened more often due to the state’s policy on gun ownership. I will say that our experience lends me to believe that since I was asked 3x and Amanda 1x about weapons. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned the bazooka back in our storage locker🤔

    Fort Langley, Langley, BC

    22 апреля 2024 г., Канада ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

We visited Fort Langley National Historic Park strategically located on the banks of the Fraser River. Our RV park is on McMillin Island, a hop skip and a jump from the Fort.

As a result of Michael helping out with some AV technical issues they were having, we got a great 1:1 with one of the park rangers, Rita. She provided us with an in-depth history of the area.

Rita told us the history of the Hudson’s Bay Company Fur Trading post (Ft Langley) and a fun fact about how British Columbia got its name 😉. Basically, the Hudson Bay Co didn't want the Americans trying to claim the area, so by decree of Queen Victoria she named it British Columbia. ‘Columbia’ already existed, and the British added ‘Britain’ in front of it to impose their status'.

A real-life blacksmith is on the premises demonstrating how things were done back in the day. 😎

    Capilano Suspension Bridge, North Vancou

    24 апреля 2024 г., Канада ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Capilano Suspension Bridge - Located in North Vancouver and is their most popular tourist attraction in Vancouver. After visiting, we understand why- a must see! Originally built with hemp rope and cedar planks, the bridge has seen a few upgrades since 1889. Now steel cables make it strong enough to hold, say, 75 full-grown elephants. Over the past 130 years, visitors from every country on earth have come to take in its swaying views.

Cross the wobbly hanging bridge (Westen was having a hard time walking straight 😆) you venture through a rainforest canopy surrounded by Mother Nature’s beauty 😍

Lower Falls Trail hike - Rain did not keep us from exploring the Golden Ears Park area which is North of Vancouver. Stanley Parker/ English Bay/Canada Place

    29 апреля 2024 г., Канада ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

As most know, Stanley Park is a magnificent green oasis in the midst of Vancouver. We walked along the Sea Wall and landed at Prospect point to get a great view of North Vancouver. Enjoyed the view of Sea Planes and huge barges that come in and out of Vancouver Harbor.

We ventured on the outskirts of Stanley to visit English Bay Seawall. Home of the awesome sculpture/maze that inspires Laughter and Joy 🤣

From there we marched along the harbor to Canada place/Vancouver port! Along the way enjoying all the huge sculptures that popped up.

In total we did 20k steps and did not seem like that many as we were engaged in all the incredible surroundings!

Authentic Asian Food Day + Steveston Por

    30 апреля 2024 г., Канада ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Richmond Public Market - A bustling indoor marketplace located in the heart of Richmond, BC. The market features a wide variety of vendors offering a diverse selection of Asian cuisine, making it a popular destination for foodies and shoppers. The food court is known for its wide variety of Asian street-food styled dishes - traditional favorites such as rice bowls, noodle soups, bento boxes, and bubble tea, as well as unique fusion dishes. Amanda's not a fan of most Asian food (except Sushi), but she indulged me for this day trip -yummmmmmmmmmmmmm

Steveston Port - West Coast fishing community complete with the requisite pubs, museums, and a fish market! Just a 20-minute drive south of Vancouver and part of the suburb of Richmond, Steveston sits at the mouth of the Fraser River and was once the largest fishing port and cannery centre on the West Coast. Today, the canneries are no longer in operation, but it is still home to the largest salmon run in North America and to the largest fleet of commercial fishing vessels on the BC coast.

    Granville Island and Yaletown

    1 мая 2024 г., Канада ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Fun factoid- Vancouver city was initially named Granville 🤓 Even though we have visited before, it never gets old. The marketplace is an international cornucopia of all sorts of tasty foods.

Took a Ferry around False Creek to get a different perspective of the city. House boats and artistic looking high rises. 🤩 Westen loved the Ferry ride. Walked to Yaletown which is the upcoming area. Unique and cool high rises and restaurants.

You’ll notice Westen checking out a PET PARKER. You put your pet inside, scan the barcode, and a plexiglass door keeps them safe…..NO WAY!!!!!
