This has been by far my favorite stop in the past year! We spent 3 days enjoying the beauty, peacefulness, and tranquility. The Haitises National Park is breathtaking—feels and looks like Thailand.

The tall cliff faces and vegetation are out of a movie. We explored caves and mangroves in the dinghy, and visited an eco lodge.Read more

We arrived her this morning, took a hike to the top of the hill and then went for a snorkel off the boat. We were greeted by two turtles and thousands of little fish in a bait ball doing their underwater ballet staying just out of reach!Read more

A life raft is something we carry on board to keep us safe in the event our boat starts to sink. Most likely this is the only time we will see it inflated or sit in it!

The life raft should be re-certified every 3 years to ensure it can do its job, if needed.

It was really interesting to see it blown up, and to see how small it is! This is a 6 person raft, so we’d be like sardines—but for just me and Pat it would be tolerable!Read more

The island of Saint Martin is divided into the French side (Saint Martin) and the Dutch side (Sint Maarten) and is about 90 miles east of the British Virgin Islands. We arrived a few days ago and checked into the country at a marine hardware store with the clerk. Things are pretty laid back. This is a significant milestone for us as we reached a point where we no longer have to sail upwind against the prevailing trade winds that almost always blow from the east or southeast. Now we can sail north or south between islands that are relatively close to each other. This is the heart of cruising.Read more
