We arrived at the Sheraton last night. We are in one wing and Ange & Coop are at the other end. We went to reception this morning and were able to get apartments near each other with a better part of the beach in front of us.
Western Samoa (as distinct from American Samoa) is made up of a number of islands. Upolu and Savai'i are the two largest islands and Upolu is the most populous and home to Samoa's historical capital city of Apia.
We hired a car and drove around the part of the island near us and into Apia. It is still an old style country, no hotels or McDonalds and utes loaded with people sitting in the back.
It is a very religious country with churches everywhere following the Methodist missionaries beliefs.
Back at the resort the girls were into the 4.00pm cocktail happy hour and got to know the very friendly staff well.Read more

Day 3
The Beach

We started off each day with the buffet breakfast in the large outdoor dining area with sea views. After breakfast Coop and I went to the dive shop to organise a scuba dive.
Being such a nice day we stayed at the resort and sat at the beach swimming and kayaking. At the resort there was a casino and we went for a flutter. All had a bit of a win. Don’t think it had anything to do with the croupier advising when not to bet on a particular hand.
It was then back to the beach alternating from there to the swim up bar.
When it was getting near to 4.00pm the girls took off to get changed and be ready for the cocktail happy hour.Read more

Sheraton Samoa

Maurice was on time to pick up the girls. When they got back they said it was a good experience.
The women were all dressed in white with white hats and gloves and the singing was great.
It was our last day so relaxed at the resort but unfortunately the pool and swim up bar were not operating due to a problem with the filter. We still filled in our time down at the beachside. Nearing 4.00 pm the girls took off to get ready for a night out after the cocktail happy hour session. They said their good-bys to the wonderful cocktail bar staff.Read more

Leaving Samoa

For the last night we went to a restaurant further around on the west coast. The taxi drivers must all be the same in Samoa. We went to pay on arrival but he said don’t worry about it now, just fix it all up when you get back to the resort. Word must get through the ranks that he has a fare to go back ?
It was a very good local seafood meal and a relaxing night to windup our trip to SamoaRead more

Diving

Coop and I went for a dive today and the water was chrystal clear. The dive master took us to several different sites and I noticed he had a bottle of water with him. He was taking swigs from the bottle while underwater and at one time he he got his knife and started to scrape the bottle which brought heaps of small shark and barracoota fish swimming toward us, strange.
It was then back the resort beach, pool and happy hour.Read more
