Traveler Oysters don’t even have sex these days☹️ There farmed so it’s more beneficial for them to manipulate the oysters to produce more! Pretty disappointed about that one! As for the shells well there one complete organism so they grow together and stay together! Depending on weather there on the sea bed or up closer to the surface is where they put there growth and effort, shell or body! Oysters are approx 18 months before being ready to eat, they even go through 5 grading sessions before there ripe age! They stay fresh for up to 8 days in the fridge while in a closed shell! We enjoy them best with a few drops of fresh lemon
