    The Osborne Sherry company (founded by Thomas Osborne Mann in 1772) erected large images of bulls starting in the 1950's to advertise it's Brandy de Jerez.  The original image contained the name of the company, which was then "blacked out" in 1994 to comply with an EU law that prohibited advertising of alcoholic beverages within 150 metres of a road.

    Toro de Osborne, stands proudly alongside roads and on hilltops, cutting the horizon with its mighty shape. Despite it's humble advertising heritage, the bull has since become a cultural symbol of Spain.
