    🏄🏄‍♀️🏄‍♂️

    2021年5月27日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

After a longgggg 50km corrugated road, we arrived at Red Bluff Campsite at Quobba Station. We were recommended to stay here but a couple of people, we know why 😍 situated behind a huge red cliff is a awesome campground with fancy safari tents and normal camping spots, a cute little shop selling yummy mango smoothies and burgers, and lots of surf spots.

We only spent a night here as bad weather was on its way, and would definitely return.

After here we checked out the blow holes, and blow holes bay and went for a snorkel. We took a selfie infront of the 'king waves kill' sign (seems to be the thing to do), and then headed back to Canarvon for a couple of nights in a cabin with a decent shower 🚿

  • Nervous sharks everywhere!

    2021年5月26日, オーストラリア ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Francois Peron National Park you beauty! We were lucky being able to visit here - the roads had been closed due to rain (all 4x4 driving through sand) to prevent everyone getting bogged, so we were chuffed when they were opened the day before we head off.

What an incredible place, we jumped on the paddle board and worked our way around Big Lagoon - a huge lagoon surrounded by bright red cliffs and crystal clear waters. We managed to spot Nervous Shark (literally named because they're so hard to spot), turtles & rays. 🦈

  • No monkeys here!

    2021年5月25日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

A little update on our trip now that we have decent reception at last!

We spent a few days exploring the gorgeous Shark Bay. We started off at Monkey Mia, a secluded caravan park alongside a gorgeous coastline. Monkey Mia is known for their wild dolphin interaction, where wild dolphins come into the bay every morning to have a fish for brekkie. At first we thought this may not be too ethical, as feeding them could prevent them from needing to fish, however they only give the dolphins 10% of their morning feed and often they don't even take the fish 🤷🏼‍♀️ it was pretty cool seeing wild ones up close, and a cute turtle even popped his head up!

We chilled here for a day and night, checked out the famous shell beach (one of 2 beaches in the world made entirely of shells, did some paddle boarding and went for dinner at the local restaurant.

The following night we found an epic spot called Eagle Bluff where we camped on the sand, it was truly stunning watching the sunset over the ocean with a BBQ and a bottle of red 🍷

  • Skywalk

    2021年5月23日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Kalbarri National Park was incredible, huge cliffs and boulders surrounding green gorges. The skywalk was only built last year and gave us a Birdseye view of this incredible park. We checked out a few of the commonly visited sites, including the Z bend and Nature's Window.

Driving through the town was pretty sad though, the recent cyclone had caused heaps of damage and ripped off lots of roofs. Accomodation was pretty non existent, so after some hikes and exploring we headed on our way....🌪️

  • Storms coming....

    2021年5月22日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

This morning we drove up to check out The Pinnacles desert in Nambung National Park. We visited here with my family a couple of years ago, it really is an incredible place! Hundreds of strange limestone structures up to 30,000 years old.

The sun continued to stay out whilst we visited the gorgeous Jurien Bay which is famous for sea lions. Unfortunately the oceans were too rough to go for a paddle, so we headed inland to find a campground as far from the storm as possible.

We camped at Elbenjo, which is owned by a lovely couple who rescue and raise injured/orphaned animals. Just as we had set up the tent a huge storm rolled in, so we headed undercover to cook dinner and drink some wine. The owners introduced up to Felix, a few week old Joey they are raising after his mother being hit by a car. 🐾

  • Rays!!!

    2021年5月19日, オーストラリア ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Hamelin Bay was a treat, so many rays! We then drove around Margaret River mouth to the beaches to check out the surfers and for some lunch.

A couple more wineries later (it's rude not to), we found a secluded camp site where we had a big clean of the back of the truck and had an early night.

The following day we got up early to head to Bunbury to get Daz's breaks checked, and that evening we went to the local pub to see Ash Grunwald. Was awesome to see some live music again. We met a lovely couple at the campground where we joined them for some beers before the gig, and the following morning we woke to them having treated us to brekkie! So kind! 🎸

Yesterday we kept heading north through Freo where we stopped for a quick dip, up through Perth and camped near Lancelin.

Today we're heading to the Cervantes! ✅

  • Margs

    2021年5月17日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

We've spent a wonderful few days exploring Margaret River and surrounding areas. Filled our days with wine & beer tasting, cheese tasting, checking out beaches and horse riding!

There are SO many wineries in Margs, all in very close proximity which is awesome! The town is super cute, filled with bars and cafes, and surrounded by green paddocks and serene farmstays. We stayed in Peppermint Cottages Monday night which was great, a good spot for a decent shower and for Lachie to use the oven to make granola!

We visited Jesters Flat and went horse riding which was so fun. Jesters flat is stunning; a big open outdoor fireplace, teepee tents for hire, and a cool inside area with comfy couches and saddles hanging off the beams. We had a great ride on Stacey & Lily through the farmland and bush. Paul the owner even gave us a few contacts to go mustering when we reach the Kimberley's! 🏇

Today we're heading to Hamelin Bay with the hope of spotting some stingrays

  • Time for a climb

    2021年5月15日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Saturday Arvo we visited the granite Skywalk at Castle Rock, wowie!!! After a steep uphill hike, and a mad scramble to the top we were met with magnificent views over the stunning Porongurup National Park and beyond.

We then checked out Albany which was pretty cool, and treated ourselves to some lunch before topping up on water and groceries.

Today Lachie had a go at zorbing, where he sat in a big blow up ball with water and rolled down a hill. I decided to give it a miss..... after this we checked out the incredible elephant rocks and the surrounding national Park, before heading to Ducketts Mill Wines & Denmark Farmhouse. We sampled some delicious cheese and wine (and took a few home), and drove through Denmark which was a cool town full of cafes & bars.

Tonight is a simple rest stop before we head off tomorrow for more exploring. 🍷

  • Another furry visitor!

    2021年5月13日, オーストラリア ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Thursday we visited the incredible Wave Rock and Hippos Yawn in Hyden. It was a good 4 hour drive but worth it, Wave Rock is amazing! Never seen anything like it. Hippos Yawn was a short walk so we went and checked that out as well.

Friday we camped at the stunning East Bay Campground near Two People's Bay Nature Reserve. Such a good find!! Beachfront camping, and although a little chilly we did a nice walk along the beach and had a swim. Lach went for a Kite as the sun was setting and I watched with a beer in hand!

Once the sun had set and I began cooking dinner, I got a fright when a huge furry creature ran into my foot! I let out a massive scream (Lachie once again thought I was being dramatic) and after realising it was a Bandicoot (and that he can't fit in our engine), we watched him scurry around eating beetles. He was the best! We were also visited by several kookaburras! This morning we did some yoga, went for a paddle and had a swim. 🐭

  • First stop in WA

    2021年5月11日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Well we made it across the border and to our first stop in WA - Cape Le Grand National Park. Wow. Never have I ever (good drinking game)seen such crystal clear waters and pearly white sands. A true hidden gem. We spent the last couple of days swimming in the calm waters, hiking through the park and camped at the stunning Lucky Bay Camping ground.

Last night we treated ourselves to a motel for the night - we were in for bad weather and didn't fancy getting washed away. It was pretty nice having a long hot shower, and watching an actual TV! We've woken feeling rejuvenated and ready for more exploring of this incredible state. 🇦🇺

  • The Nullarbor

    2021年5月10日, オーストラリア ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Sorry we've been a little quiet - reception has been a bit dodgy (which is a blessing in disguise).

We had a lovely couple of final days exploring the Eyre Peninsula before moving onto the Nullabor.

Found a gorgeous beachfront campsite at Point Brown in Smoky Bay (in SA still), only to wake the following morning to see a family of mice had been munching on our wraps 🐭 less than ideal! Are they still with us? We'll let you know....

After a stop at the incredible Lake MacDonnell - the pink lake 🌷🌺 on we went to stock up on supplies for our next journey.

Thank god for the Harry Potter Audio books for keeping us entertained across the incredible Nullabor; over 1000km before a left turn. 😳 We crossed the boarder into WA today (a very wet WA), and have found a nice campsite before we continue on tomorrow to Cape Le Grande National Park 🌊

In true Shuholder style, we started our day with yoga and a paddle board. We then drove on to explore more gorgeous beaches in the National Park, shame it was too chilly for a swim!

After grabbing some supplies in Port Lincoln we drove up the coast past coffin bay, and camped on the cliff tops at Picnic Beach. Delicious pizzas for dinner on the BBQ 🍕もっと詳しく

  • Dolphins!

    2021年5月5日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

    Well yesterday was very special!
We drove to Lincoln National Park from port Augusta to camp for the night. It's gorgeous here, white sandy beaches and colourful birds.

We set up our camp and then went for a hike to a stunning cove, only to find a pod of dolphins swimming offshore! Lachie was straight out there with droney capturing them playing and frolicking in the shallow waters. We decided to jump down into the cove in the hope they'd come over, and they swam no more than 10m away! I think they were very curious.

We trekked back to our tent reliving the magic, and passed emus and more gorgeous birds.

Ended our afternoon with a paddle out on the calm waters. 🛶

  • Monster moths

    2021年5月2日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Shorter drive today to the town Blinman. We treated ourselves to some chips and beers for lunch, and then drove on to find a campsite along the Parachilna Gorge.

The gorge is very empty at this time of year which is good to protect us from mozzies, however I have screamed several times tonight due to discovering the world's largest moths. Good job they're is no one anywhere near us or they'd thing there's a murder happening. They are absolute monsters.

Meanwhile during this traumatic time lachie distracted me by introducing me to damper, which was pretty delish. We listened to some owls, had a wine and enjoyed no more moth attacks. 🦉

  • Warraweena

    2021年5月1日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Today we visited Baltana Historic Town. Getting there gave Daz a workout, but it was so worth the bumpy drive. This town reminded me of the movie 'House of Wax'(don't watch it, it's terrible) - full of abandoned hotels, bakeries, butchers and homes. Lots of plaques explaining the history on how they used to survive in the outback 100 years ago.

We then drove to camp amongst the 'Flinders Ranges' at 'Warraweena Conservation Park'. We met 'Stoney' at the old homestead who very kindly gave us a couple of beers and directed us to our campground. It was stunning - alongside an old gorge that occasionally fills with water, and we woke to emus wondering through the camp. Special!

  • Are we on the moon?

    2021年4月30日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

After stopping at a campsite just outside town for the night, we drove on to William Creek, which has a population of only 12!

On we went to explore incredible Lake Eyre. Lake Eyre is Australia's largest salt lake, and in the center it is 15.2m below sea level. We thought we were on the moon! 🌙

Today was a big day of driving and we camped pretty much on the side of the gravel road, which had a population of 50000 flies and 10000 grasshoppers. Both of which really wanted to swim in my pasta. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • The underground town

    2021年4月30日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Yesterday we explored Coober Pedy. Coober Pedy is known as 'opal capital of the world', as it produces over 75% of the worlds opals. They were found by accident back in 1915, when sparkles were seen in the dust whilst walking.

We went to 'Old Timers Mine' which was awesome, seeing how they used to find the opals and how they used to live. People still live underground today, and we checked out 'Fayes Underground Home', which was built by 3 women using hand tools only. Very impressive!

In the evening we went to 'The Breakaways' which are incredible colourful hills, and a registered Aboriginal Heritage Site. They have been used in many movies, including Ground Zero & Mad Max Beyond. There is also the impressive 'dog fence', which is a fence 5300km long across 3 states built to keen the dingos away from the sheep country. 🐑

Slept under the stars just outside town (spent most of the evening trying to get away from the flies), and now we're heading to William Creek. 🪰

  • On the road again

    2021年4月28日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We have arrived in Coober Pedy! After a long 6 hours in the car we have made it to this dusty, opal mining town.

Back when it was established in 1915 homes were built underground (called dugouts)to escape the scorching summer heat, so we're looking forward to exploring these old homes tomorrow.

We spent Tuesday morning enjoying the beaches in the York peninsula, before leaving mid afternoon and camping at a cool spot called Chinaman's Creek near Port Augusta.

  • Oceanside

    2021年4月26日, オーストラリア ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

We spent sunday night at a simple rest stop in Parham, after spending the day in Adelaide. It was great catching up with Lachie's cousin, Lex, and watching her play some live music.

Yesterday we found a beauty of a spot, called The Bamboos on the Yorke Peninsula. We're nestled amoungst the sand dunes 50 metres from the water's edge. We fell asleep last night listening to the ocean, and woke to cute little footprints around the car. Presumably from a Possum?

Lachie got out on his kite yesterday as there was good wind, and I did some yoga. Another gorgeous day today! 🎸

Finally - 2 nights in the same spot! Having to set up and pack down everyday so far has been pretty tiring, so it's been nice staying put.

We've had an awesome day, waking up and un-zipping our tent to the ocean front views. We paddled to some caves and a secluded beach, planned more of our trip and Lachie tried his hand again at some fishing (and failed of course 😬).

Risotto for dinner 🥣 happy days.

Spent last night sleeping under the stars in the Big Desert, Victoria. They didn't put much thought into the name - it is indeed very big, and very sandy.

We had the entire campsite to ourselves, and once I stopped thinking that spiders were going to attack me we could relax and enjoy the fire and night sky ✨

We have just arrived in SA, and are currently drinking a beer whilst watching some dolphins! 🐬

Then onto Mungo National Park - a drive that Google maps told us would be 5 hours was actually 7 hours across dirt, corrugated roads! It was less than ideal, however we saw plenty of emus and roos to help pass the time.

Camping at Mungo National Park tonight for some hiking tomorrow. 🌿
