• National Gallery: Southeast Asian Art

    After the impressionists, I mostly focused on Southeast Asian art. The National Gallery is housed in the former Supreme Court building, and the layout of the building wasn't very intuitive with little nooks everywhere, and I knew from my prior visit that it can get a little overwhelming, so I was focused on what I chose to see and I completed my tour before it became too much for me.

    As for the art itself, I was slightly surprised to see some pieces that were boundary pushing (by Singapore standards anyway), with political and social commentary embedded into many pieces. One painting even showed an interracial gay couple.
