In addition to wanting to get away from the heat, I also left the cat awa dance early to get a good vantage point for the samba parade. This parade was livelier than the brass band parade and I saw more interesting characters, including a cat named Jack Sparrow (he was dressed in a pirate outfit) and a parade participant wearing a cone of shame.
