While we were inside Naritasan Shinshoji, we heard a lot of noise coming from the Omotesando, so we made a beeline there to find out what was going on. Just as we arrived at the Omotesando, one yamahoko departed up the road, and we stayed and watched the people at a second yamahoko perform a dance. It was very hot and humid on this third day of the festival, and it was obvious many of the participants were over it. Many of them were simply (and unenthusiastically) going through the motions, and I can't say I blame them.

When this yamahoko finished their dance, they departed up the Omotesando, and we followed behind. Further up, we saw one mobile shrine heading downhill carried by men in white, and then another yamahoko going downhill.

After that, we ate some more street food, including a chocolate covered banana, and then we made our way back to Narita Airport for a much needed shower and some more substantial food at the lounge.Read more
