    Junee

    16 maggio 2022, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

We left our morning camp spot around 10 am. Driving trough town we noticed a sensational old and well preserved train station. How nice it would have been to stop and check it out!
Went to the first petrol station in Hay but instead of Diesel we found garage owner who was content to feed his crow but he had no diesel available. An amazing conversation started all about birds - not a mention about petrol. Such a generous and well grounded guy, we felt completely satisfied without having found what we looked for! Later we came to a rest stop outside of town where we had another conversation with a man who collected the garbage. Again we had some lovely exchange, incredibly enjoyable. What is it about some country people, they all seem so generous and decent.
The scenery continued to be interesting, however there were large parts of the countryside that were planted with cotton and rice - despite the normally dry conditions. Whenever we drove past areas were there was fewer agriculture the beauty was immense. A few km's out from Narrandera we had lunch at a beautiful rest stop and also allowed plenty of time for Josie to run around. Rather than retracing our steps we turned into the direction of Narrandera, the roads got much much worse, at times we had to slow down much more. We passed some incredibly pretty little towns with old buildings and awesome pubs. Eventually we made it to Junee around 3.30pm. Our first stop was a truck wash - much needed after yesterday's adventure. Later we made our way to Junee Tourist Park. Upon arrival there was no delay in taking Josie for a good walk into town. She sprinted back and forth along the pretty 'Federation Pathway' lined with bright red trees some distance into town. Again it hardly satisfied her energy requirements -although her dinner hit the right spot (from what we gather)...
