Our first ever trip away in Moho MAEV was here at Romney Meadows Caravan and Camping site for New Year 2023/2024 so we decided to revisit. Its difficult at this time of year to find an 'open all year' site that's close enough for us to get to on a Friday when we have to work. Romney Meadows fits the bill on so many levels.

Despite the fact that its quite close to the B2075, it's peaceful and has plenty of green space around it.

The pitches are well kept with shingle and wooden fence posts, the showers are spotless and there's plenty of hot water - although not heated and there aren't many of them so we probably wouldn't want to be here during high season.

A 5 mile walk along the coast for lunch

Well, the day took us a VERY long way - by foot!

We jumped onto the local bus and headed in to New Romney, where we walked through the High Street.

We decided to walk to Littlestone, which didn't look too far on the map. Considering its a week before Christmas, the skies were clear, the sun was shining and it was warm!

We got to the beach in Littlestone and decided to walk along and see how far we got. Other than Molly getting stuck in the worst, black treacle, smelly mud right at the beginning of the walk, the day was pretty perfect!

After we cleaned Molly up in a boat which had some rainwater in the bottom of it, we walked along to Greatstone, then we decided to keep going and see if we could make it to Dungerness.

5.3 miles later we were rewarded with lunch at the Pilot Inn - the perfect place to chill and relax. The light on this coastline is unique and its always special to spend time here.

After lunch we headed back to New Romney on the bus and then walked over the fields back to the campsite - via a pet shop in the town to buy shampoo for Molly so we could freshen her up!

After an amazing night sleep (as always) we awoke to a glorious morning with plenty of morning mist and a gorgeous sunrise - perfect to get out there an practice a spot of Thai Chi!

Once we had our breakfast, we decided to head out and just see where the day took us.Read more
