Once a week, on Saturdays at 10am, the archeologist of Guadix, Antonio López, shows his passion as he takes interested visitors around the excavation site of the Roman Theatre. We were in a small group of 4 people, which made the interaction even more interesting.
I can't condense 2 hours of explanations into a paragraph, but Antonio showed us the issues the Romans had when building this theatre, and how the project evolved. Very interesting!
We spent the remainder of the day walking around Guadix, looking at various monuments, walking into Mudéjar style churches, and we had some great views from the Mirador de la Magdalena.もっと詳しく
旅行者Definitely worth it if you are interested in Roman history! You need to book with the tourism office in the Plaza de la Constitución, and it's free. We were a small group of 4 people, and the visit lasted two hours.
旅行者It does look really worth the time. I just checked my calendar and sadly I’m planning to come through mid week, so no chance for me - but I’d enjoy it.
旅行者You would also need to stay two nights, as the visit is in the morning. If your midweek is on a Thursday, you might get to see the Alcazaba, at 10am. You need to book the day before, though.
旅行者 I didn't know about the Roman theater talks and will try to be in Guadix on a Saturday on our camino. It sounds well worth it!
