Inside the Thurston Lava Tube (Nahuku) - an incredible space

The rainforest walk from the Kilauea Iki crater car park to the lava tube (Nahuku) on Chain of Craters Road. Lovely 10 minute walk through really lush vegetation I'd admired as I drove past it earlier. Then the landscape changes dramatically due to C20/21 lava flows.

This was my favourite spot all day. It looks as if a subsequent a'a flow has petered out over some pahoehoe. I was just mesmerised by this scenery (which is only just down the coast from the current flow, so maybe 7 or 8 miles from where I was staying), but it took me about 2 hours and 60+ miles to get here because Chain of Craters Road is cut.
