• Granada & Alhambra

I was talking to my buddy Zoltan yesterday who told me there is no visit to Spain without seeing the city of Granada and the Alhambra fortress built by Muslim emirs back in the 13th century.

And since it was on the way, I did. Zoli, thanks for the tip, it was a great stop!

The Alhambra was a self-contained city separate from the rest of Granada that lies below. It contained most of the amenities of a Muslim city such as a Friday mosque, hammams (public baths), roads, houses, artisan workshops, a tannery, and a sophisticated water supply system. Granada and the fort are considered as one of the most visited places in Spain. Judging by the number of tourists here, I'd say they're about right which is why it was not on my priority list :)

Anyways, there is much history to both cities which you can find on the Wikipedia :)
