    Buckingham Palace - Regent Street

    It has been a walking Sunday. We arrived at Regent Street before 11 a.m. while most of the shops open at 12 p.m. on Sunday. T_T Apple Store is being renovated but it should still be in operation (I have a Genius Bar reservation tomorrow).

    We walked along Bond Street and reached Buckingham Palace. No change of guards today; however we saw the London Marathon, luckily.

    Some shopping was done after the visit of Buckingham Palace. Purchased a pair of leather-soled shoes and a Ferragamo wallet.    Leia mais

    Big Ben - Trafalgar Square

    Sightseeing in the City. Passed by Big Ben, Wesminster Abbey, House of Commons, HM Treasury, as well as, ugh... MI5 & MI6... Double-O Seven, reporting out.

    There was an Anzac Day Memorial Ceremony on Parliament Street in the morning. The public is not allowed to visit 10 Downing Street now.

    Next we heeaded up to Trafalgar Square - no more pigeons now.

    Fish and chips for lunch @ London Fish & Chips - ￡21 for two. Practically "fish and chips" only, but really a big portion.

    Back to Regent Street in the afternoon for Genius Bar appointment. Planned for the London Eye afterwards, but the weather was son londonish that it started to rain just at the time we arrived. We had to head back.

    Tomorrow will be a day for the Natural History Museum.    Leia mais

    Natural History Museum

    Museum Day 1.

    The Natural History Museum is just a stone's throw away. A gigantic set of diplodocus skeleton is displayed right at the entrance. There were four exhibit zones in the museum. Not only does it display various fossils and specimen. it also introduces the history and evolution of the Earth. A recommended place for nature lovers.

    Hyde Park

    Squirrels! Nothing but squirrels!

    Yeah, you know what I mean - Hyde Park. It is about half an hour's walk from our hotel, so we decided to walk rather than taking the tube. We bought a pack of pecans before setting off.

    There are a lot of species in the park, the majority being the ducks, the pigeons, the swans, and of course, the squirrels.

    We had nice and sunny weather today, which made the visit more enjoyable. The squirrels in Hyde Park are all pretty big in size and not afraid of humans. We fed them with pecans; they grabbed the food and ate. Seems they liked the nuts.

    The swans liked to hang around in the lake, while the pigeons were more likely to stay everywhere - some pigeons fought against squirrels for food.    Leia mais

    Football museum

    When you talk about Manchester, the very topic you won't neglet is definitely football. Yes,there is even a national football museum in the center of the city.

    As football enthusiasts, we came to the meseum for visit. There are a lot of exhibits on display, like the Mini Cooper of George Best, the signed shirt of stars, the old-time jerseys and boots, and of course, the trophies of some major tournaments. There are some trivias to test your knowledge of football, as well as some computer games of football. I played Manchester Derby in FIFA 16, me being the Reds; the final score was 2-1 - a derby victory.

    Oh, yes, there was an oval-shaped red card on display, too.    Leia mais

    We went to La Tasca, a pretty famous Spanish restaurant on Deensgate Street.

    Old trafford

    Matchday.

    Manchester United hosting Leicester City.

    Is this going to be a three-point game for the Reds, or is Claudio Ranieri getting his first ever trophy?

    We arrived at the stadium at around 1 pm. The crowd began to show up close to 2 pm; the game kicked off at 2.05 pm.

    Anthony Martial's early goal put United in the lead, but Fox' captain Wes Morgan equalized before half-time and the scoreline remained until the end of the game.

    Leicester City are not yet champions; it still has to be determined by the game between Spurs and Chelsea.

    Winning or losing did not matter too much; it is the atmosphere that impressed me the most. The fans - home and away - supported their teams by chanting and cheering all along the game. It was a non-stop ninety minutes. When the away players leaved the pitch, the home fans applauded for them as well.

    The Leicester fans were singing even after the game; yet they deserved to be that excited - they were so close to being the champions.

    Wish the Foxes luck.

    Hilton Bankside

    The game didn't end as expected, the train was delayed, the Uber driver failed to get us... but it was not all bad news for the day. Our last stop is Hilton London Bankside. Yes, baby. It is Hilton.

    No further description is needed for this world-class hotel. It is indeed the best hotel we have ever stayed in.    Leia mais

    Greenwich Observatory

    A day for the Greenwich Observatory. We took the tour boat cruise to Greenwich Pier and did sightseeing along the River Thames.

    The Jubilee line broke down in the morning, as well as 3 other lines. Anyway, it was only a 20-minute walk to the London Eye Pier.

    The Observatory is inside a park. The famous Greenwich Meridian is inside the Observatory. We took photos with the Meridian, and of course, East meets West.    Leia mais

    British Museum

    Museum Day 2.

    The agenda for today was the British Museum. It is one of the biggest and most renowned museums in the world with more than 8,000,000 exhibits.

    We saw the Egyptians first, then the Chinese. A large number of jade products, porcelains, Sancais, Jingtailans as well as lacquerware and bronze products are displayed.

    We spent almost five hours in the museum. Another walking day, but unforgettable.

    Dinner at Chinatown; shopping at Harrods after that.    Leia mais

    London Eye

    It's a day for the evening. First we went to the London Eye; after that, we went to see the Tower Bridge.

    It was a pretty good time when we arrived at the London Eye. The sun is setting, but it is not totally dark yet. A half-hour ride brought out the very best of London from 135m above sea level.

    After the ride in the London Eye, we set off to the Tower Bridge. The bridge was more beautiful with the lights on. The warship HMS Belfast lay on the River Thames. It is now a military museum.    Leia mais

    St Paul's Cathedral

    The last day for sightseeing in UK. We went to St. Paul's Cathedral Princess Diana had her wedding held there.

    St. Paul's Cathedral is probably the only Cathedral in Britain with a dome. We climed up the dome to the top of the cathedral. The stairs were narrow and steep, but it paid off to climb upwards - the view from above was absolutely breathtaking.

    We walked towards Trafalgar Square and Big Ben after the visit of the cathedral - exactly the opposite route where we started our trip in UK. A fairly nice way to bring the holiday to a close.
