    Day 1 - Late Arrival

    July 2 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

    Our flight didn't land until 7:30 pm, so we kept our first evening nice and relaxed. After a beautiful landing, we walked about 10 minutes from the terminal to collect our rental car. This time we decided to try something different and booked with Autovia instead of our usual choice, Sixt, hoping to save a bit of money. In the end, we realised the price was almost the same, so we'll probably stick with Sixt on future trips.

    From there, we drove straight to our apartment to check in. Before calling it a night, we stopped at a 24-hour supermarket to pick up some water and snacks so we'd be ready to start exploring the next day.    Read more

    Day 2 - Boat tour & Olbia

    July 3 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

    Our first full day in Sardinia started with a 4-hour boat tour that included dolphin watching and several swimming stops.

    The boat trip was fantastic. There were only 10 people on board, including our guide, which made the experience feel very relaxed and personal. Out in the open sea, the waves were huge, and the water had the most incredible deep blue colour. It was a little intimidating at times, but also so much fun. We were lucky enough to spot a few dolphins, although unfortunately they were too quick for me to capture on video.

    After returning to the harbour, we were more than ready for our first Sardinian lunch at a restaurant by the bay. Of course, we couldn't resist stopping for a gelato afterwards—it was absolutely delicious and exactly what we needed on a warm summer day.

    Later, we headed back to our apartment to freshen up before driving into Olbia to start exploring the city. We wandered through the charming streets, browsed a few shops, and then had dinner at Ciao Bella. To end the evening, we took a ride on the Ferris wheel for beautiful views over the city before finishing the night with drinks at a rooftop bar.     Day 3 - Boat tour

    July 4 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

    Today we joined a full-day boat tour to the beautiful La Maddalena Archipelago. Compared to the day before, this boat was much larger and carried many more passengers, but it was still a fantastic experience.

    Throughout the day, we stopped at several breathtaking locations where we could swim in the crystal-clear water, explore the islands, and—of course—treat ourselves to another gelato. I honestly don't think I'll ever get tired of the incredible shades of turquoise and blue the water has here. Every stop looked like something out of a postcard.

    After returning from the tour, we headed to a restaurant that had been recommended by one of the other passengers on the boat. It turned out to be a great recommendation and was the perfect way to end another unforgettable day in Sardinia.    Read more

    Day 4 - Exploring Costa Smeralda

    July 5 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

    We wanted to start the day with brunch since we hadn't done that yet during our trip. Surprisingly, it was quite difficult to find a proper brunch spot nearby. After breakfast, we set off to explore some of the places we had been hearing so much about—Porto Cervo, Porto Rafael, and Porto Taverna. Our plan for the day was simple: explore as many beautiful places as possible.

    Our first stop was Porto Rafael after that we headed to Porto Cervo, which definitely lives up to its reputation as a luxury destination. The streets are lined with designer boutiques such as Prada, Hermès, and Valentino, alongside elegant restaurants and a marina filled with impressive yachts. It was a lovely place to wander around, but the heat quickly caught up with us.

    To cool off, we drove to a shopping centre near the airport, where we did a bit of shopping and treated ourselves to a frozen yoghurt. Feeling refreshed, we continued to Porto Taverna for one last swim of the holiday. The beach was absolutely stunning—the water was crystal clear, incredibly warm, and so shallow that you could walk a long way without it reaching above your waist. The mountain rising from the sea in the background made the scenery even more spectacular.

    After soaking up the last rays of sunshine, we returned to our apartment to shower and get ready for dinner. That evening we enjoyed delicious pizza at Il Vesuvio before heading back into Olbia for a final drink. Of course, we couldn't leave Sardinia without one last gelato, so we stopped at Villi, which is said to serve the best ice cream in the area. Honestly, every gelato we had during this trip was amazing, so it was the perfect sweet ending to our holiday.    Read more

    Day 5 - Last few hours in San Pantaleo

    July 6 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

    Our final day in Sardinia had arrived, and we had to check out of our apartment at 10:00 am. Since our flight wasn't until later in the day, we had a few hours left to enjoy the island.

    We decided to visit San Pantaleo, a charming little village filled with boutique shops, cosy cafés, and lovely restaurants. We spent some time wandering through the picturesque streets, browsing the local shops, and soaking up the relaxed atmosphere.

    Before making our way back to the airport, we stopped for one last lunch to enjoy our final taste of Sardinia. Afterwards, it was time to return our rental car and catch our flight home—already looking forward to our next visit.    Read more
