  • Reisens start

  • Bethany Farm, Kingaroy

    11. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌧 25 °C

The home estate of Qld’s most famous Premier and his family. Sir Joh & Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen developed the massive estate over the decades prior to him entering politics.
A tour of the property was with his son John, and of course no visit to Bethany is complete without trying Lady Flo’s famous pumpkin scones.
Amazing to hear the entire family history back to their migration in the 1800’s.

  • Yelarbon Silo Art

    14. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Some of the silo art works are just amazing to see, the amount of work that must’ve gone into doing them and the amount of time it must’ve taken, incredible.

We will be seeing a lot more of these during the rest of our trip and will add them to the blogLes mer

  • Australia’s Dingo Fence

    14. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

The longest fence in the world. The original dingo fence ended here at Yelarbon Qld after 8360 klm from the great Australian Bite in Sth West South Australia up to Cloncurry and concluded in Yelarbon.
The shorter version still exists today protecting sheep flocks through SA, NSW, and QLD.

  • Moree Disaster

    14. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Finally arrived at our overnight stop after a 5 hour stranding, and not even on the side of the road, right in the middle of the Newel highway.
    Story goes like this;
Cruising down the highway toward Moree and pulled up at a roadworks red light. Sitting for a while so chose to put into park. Car immediately shut off altogether and went dead. Would not start, would not recognise key fob, doors would not unlock etc etc. then the traffic took off without us. 😂😂😂
We were now a new obstacle for the traffic controllers to detour traffic around. Now comes the exciting part.
In these sort of situations, disconnect battery, wait 1 minute and reconnect, any car should reset computers and away you go. Hahaha, battery in the trunk and tailgate only opens electrically and is still locked. 🤣🤣😆
3 hours later NRMA arrives, car on bed and caravan behind, off to the caravan park. Drops us on site and then the fix commenced.
After rearranging rear drawers through back doors and getting to below the spare tire, got battery terminal off, 1 minute and back on, full reset and all ok.
First thing tomorrow find a new battery. More to come.
    🍺🍷🍻time.

  • New Battery Time

    15. mars 2023, Australia

Kicked the car into gear this morning and headed off to a local battery supplier to get the battery tested and replaced as I guessed it’s going to be the major cause of our problem yesterday.
Once tested, yep good enough to crank, but not supply continued draw on other systems.
Unfortunately I didn’t heed subtle warnings over the last few months when starting in the mornings it would say “battery voltage low” start engine. Should have been an adequate warning that I didn’t pay attention to. Dumb me !!

  • Royal Hotel, Gilgranda

    15. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Such an amazing thing to see. This is a grape vine out back of the Royal Hotel that was planted back in 1890.
Just the one plant has grown and survived to cover the entire outdoor beer garden with cover, and believe it or not, still produces grapes to the day. Incredible.Les mer

  • Coo-ee

    15. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Home of the famous 1915 COO-EE March. 25 young men started out from Gilgandra on the Coo-ee March to recruit Young Australians to sign up to defend the mother country back in World War I.
As they marched through the towns they would scream out the coo-ee call for others to join them. By the time they reached Sydney their numbers had swollen to over 260 men.
Similar coo-ee marches were started around the country and another large hit Adelaide the following year.

  • Western Plains Zoo

    16. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

This is a pretty impressive setup out here and although it could do with a bit of a clean and tidy up it is still good to see these animals in an open and free environment.
Great area to park the caravan, unhook and drive your own car around the complex. Golf carts are a bit steep at $70 for 3 hours or $140 all day.
Luckily got to do the safari tour as well as not many people there. Great experience.

  • Cobar, Outback NSW

    17. mars 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Definitely on the edge of entering the outback here. How they survived out here in these desolate conditions 150 years ago. All in the name of copper, gold, silver and lead.
Stinking hot today already over 36 degrees and climbing. With this heat have chosen to hook up at a caravan park for the aircon.Les mer
