  • Singapore Lounge - Brisbane

    May 3, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Well after finally getting through the Virgin checkin debacle we finally made the lounge. The poor ladies at the checkin had a ton of problems with the new automated login system and our passports weren't recognised and said our names didn't match the booking.
So after reverting to the normal manual system speaking with a human, all things were resolved.

  • Finally in LA 30 minutes late

    May 3, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

I always wonder why a first flight of the day leaves 25 minutes late even though the plane has sat on the Tarmac for 3 hours.
This meant arriving 30 min late in LA, then to find out flight had been changed to an earlier flight unbeknownst to us.
So arrived 7:20am, through customs and immigration, collect and re check bags, across from Terminal 1 to terminal 5 and boarding New York flight at 8:14am.
    What a mammoth effort. LOL

  • A la garla restaurant

    May 4, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Somewhere along the I80 Westbound, a place call Du Bois, it was time for a feed and bathroom break. Definitely one of the best fast burgers around, Wendy's was our lunch stop. I had the son of Baconator, and Sue went for the Taco Salad (photo)
Just a couple of hours to go now and we'll see our little girl.

  • Nice Wheels

    May 4, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

This is a pretty cruisy set of wheels. The Chrysler Charger drives real nice and has some serious get up and go. Wouldn't mind me one these back home, pretty snappy looking.

The most incredible thing about driving one of these around the US on the highways, is that these are what the Highway Patrol guys drive, so every time we come up behind other cars, they slow down, bit of a pain in the backside actually, but pretty cool.Read more

  • Graduation Ceremony Class of 2017

    May 6, 2017 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 7 °C

What a beautiful day, not weather wise, but a great day anyway. Seeing these College graduation festivities is just amazing. The formality, the pomp and ceremony just seemed to place a level of importance of the students achievements like nothing I've ever seen before.
This year was the 2nd largest graduating class in over 100 years, over 2,400 students graduated across all disciplines, along with many doctorates and Masters acknowledgements.
I was so excited and had my camera ready to film Bec crossing the stage to receive her degree, and it was stunning to see, proudest moment of my life. Then I totally screwed up.
When I thought I had completed the filming, after her shaking hands with the College President, I realised something that completely gutted me, the camera was in photo mode, not video mode.
The single most important moment in my life, never to happen again, and I screwed up big time. Took me a little time to get over it, if I ever do completely.

  • Grad Party for the girls

    May 6, 2017 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 5 °C

Once grad was over we moved on to the clubhouse venue for the grad party. This was a combined event for both Bec and Shannon and we are so grateful for the efforts of Shannons parents Jeannie and Gerry.
They produced such an amazing feast that was stunning and with the music, the usual speeches, and of course the little toasting that went on about the girls it was a fantastic evening.
Bec and Shannon connected in year 1 of college and have become inseparable. Never have I seen friends connected so strongly that everyone had noticed and commented on the strength these two girls possess, and when they unite there is nothing on this planet that will stand in their way.
Beware anyone that hurts either girl, as the other will literally tear them apart.

  • Walking Poland Forest

    May 7, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

There are some beautiful places in the Youngstown area. Just south of Youngstown is a place called Poland, est. 1805.
We found this great bush walk through the forest. Someone tipped us off about the carpet of bluebells that covers the area, but unfortunately we missed the flowering season by just a week or so.
Anyway enjoyed the walk with some great bush scenery.

  • Drinks at the Back Yard

    May 7, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

After our great stroll through the forest we met with Bec & Tom at the Back Yard Inn to catch the Cleveland Cavaliers game on the screens. Walked in and guess who was there, our host Brad.
Had a few Guinness there and the innkeeper provided a couple of free YSU beer steins. Fantastic day and then we all headed back to Brad's for a fantastic slow cooked beef pot roast. Amazing, the meat just fell apart and melted in our mouths. We topped off with a Sara Lee Apple pie and Ice cream. Great end to a top day.Read more
